>>Fravel Sentenced to Life in Prison, No Parole in Kingsbury Murder

(Winona, MN) – Adam Fravel the man found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder last month, will spend life in prison with no chance of parole. Fravel was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend and mother to their two children, 26-year-old Madeline “Maddy” Kingsbury of Winona, in 2023. This is the first and only time Kingsbury’s family has allowed cameras in the courtroom. Reading his impact statement, Maddy’s father David Kingsbury explained how he gave his daughter a final goodbye: “I held her, talked to her, sung to her, and promised we’d get her justice. She was in a body bag.” Maddy’s sister, Megan Hancock, says it’s impossible to describe how she feels: “Living through the experience of having a loved one being an endangered missing person for 69 days until they are ultimately found dead, discarded in the wilderness, wrapped and duct taped into a bed sheet. How do I tell you how that has impacted me?”Kingsbury went missing on March 31st (2023) and her body was found north of Mabel on June 7th. Fravel was arrested later that day. His only words to the court were, “I never caused harm to Maddy, and I am innocent.”

(Manhatten, New York) – 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, accused of shooting and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was indicted today on a dozen charges, including first- and second-degree murder. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg says, “This was a frightening, well-planned, targeted murder that was intended to cause shock, attention, and intimidation.” The charges began to pile up for Mangione after his arrest at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on December 9th. He faces 20 years to life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder.

 

>>WI DCI Investigating Officer Shooting That Hospitalized a Man 

(Webster, WI) — A man is hospitalized in Minnesota, and an unknown number of St. Croix Tribal Police officers are on administrative leave after a shooting in Webster, Wisconsin, on Monday. Officers responded to a home around 6 p.m., finding a man with a knife on arrival. During the incident, the man was shot by an officer and then airlifted to a Minnesota hospital. His condition is unknown. The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is leading the investigation into the shooting.

 

>>Le Sueur Home, Multiple Vehicles Total Loss After Fire 

(Le Sueur, MN) — A Lea Sueur home and multiple vehicles are considered a total loss after a fire Monday. Crews responded to the house fire report around 2:54 p.m. in Kilkenny Township. The house was engulfed with flames. The homeowner, 61-year-old David Somers, was inside sleeping at the time of the fire and managed to jump out the main floor window with minor injuries. Many vehicles nearby were destroyed. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

 

>>Pelican Rapids Man Charged with Taking, Deploying Officer’s Weapon

(Pelican Rapids, MN) – A Pelican Rapids man is charged with taking an officer’s weapon and deploying it during his arrest this weekend. Police responded to a potential domestic violence situation at a home around 5:54 p.m. Saturday. Officers attempted to arrest 28-year-old Cole Franzen for domestic assault when he fled towards the residence. An Otter Tail County deputy tackled Franzen to the ground. A Pelican Rapids police officer deployed his Taser on Franzen, who then pulled the Taser underneath him and deployed it on the deputy. After more fighting, Franzen was arrested and now faces multiple charges. He made his first court appearance this morning.

 

>>8-Year-Old Boy Falls Off Ski Lift in Cass County

(Cass County, MN) — An eight-year-old boy is in the hospital after falling off a ski lift chair in Cass County’s rural Nisswa on Monday. Deputies responded to Mount Ski Gull in Fairview Township around 6:24 p.m. on a 911 call. The boy had fallen nearly 30-40 feet from a ski lift chair. The victim was treated on scene and airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital.

 

>>Wabasha Sheriff’s Office Renews Plea for 30-Year-Old Cold Case Information

(Wabasha, MN) – The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is pleading for information in a 34-year-old missing person cold case. On December 17th, 1990, 26-year-old Donna Ingersoll left a friend’s party in Wabasha and was never seen again. Foul play is suspected. Anyone with information is asked to call the WCSO or Minnesota BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehension).

 

>>Sen. Klobuchar Highlights “Take It Down Act,” Which Heads to the House

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is highlighting the Senate passage of the “Take It Down Act,” which criminalizes the non-consensual publication of explicit images and requires websites to take them down within 48 hours upon being notified. The legislation moves to the House, and making this a federal crime would empower law enforcement to go after criminals who expose victims through these images. Klobuchar says this also puts the responsibility on social media companies and hopes the bill passes the House by the end of 2024.
