>>Woman Arrested for Fentanyl Overdose Death in Hibbing

(Duluth, MN) — A woman faces third-degree murder charges after a fentanyl overdose death. On July 30th in Hibbing, a 25-year-old Mountain Iron man was found dead due to fentanyl poisoning. 20-year-old Ashley Cook was arrested around 3:00 p.m. Monday in Duluth following a nearly nine-month-long investigation by the LSVOTF (Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force) into drug sales. She was charged with murder on Tuesday. Cook is being held on a $500,000 bail.

 

>>38-Year-Old Woman Arrested in Fatal Minneapolis Crash 

(Minneapolis, MN) — A 38-year-old woman is in custody related to a crash that killed two in Minneapolis on Monday. Teniki Steward was arrested Tuesday for criminal vehicular homicide. The crash happened around 10:21 a.m. when Steward’s vehicle hit another car. The second car veered off the road and hit a bus shelter occupied by a 17-year-old boy. Two women occupied the other vehicle. One died at the scene and the other died at North Memorial Healthcare Hospital. Steward and a male passenger were hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries. The boy received minor injuries.

 

>>Vigil Sunday for 2 Victims of Fatal Minneapolis Crash 

(Minneapolis, MN) — STAR MPLS, a queer and BIPOC organization, will hold a vigil this Sunday for the two victims of a Minneapolis crash. Two women, Esther and Rose of North Minneapolis, were killed Monday. The crash also seriously injured the suspect, a man, and minorly injured a 17-year-old boy waiting for a bus. The group says the women were like family to them, truly belonging to their community. The vigil will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the crash site (North Emerson Avenue North and 26th Avenue North). The suspect, 38-year-old Teniki Steward, is in custody on criminal vehicular homicide as of today.

 

>>Warroad Man Sentenced in Wife’s Murder

(Warroad, MN) — A 65-year-old Warroad man has been sentenced to more than 21 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife. David Corneliusen shot 65-year-old Mary Corneliusen in their home near Warroad on August 23rd, 2023. She was shot with a handgun during an argument. Corneliusen entered a Norgaard plea. He admitted that the evidence was strong enough for a jury to convict him but does not remember the circumstances of the crime. With credit served, he’s expected to spend about 13 years in prison. After his release, he’ll be on probation for the remainder of the sentence.

 

>>Superior Woman Injured in Hit-and-Run

(Superior, WI) — A Superior woman sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash. Officers responded to the crash around 3:46 a.m. in an alley behind TJ Champion’s Bar. They found a 25-year-old woman injured. The victim was brought to a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

 

>>Hastings Man Accused of Producing, Possessing Child Pornography 

(Hastings, MN) — A Hastings man faces four counts of attempting to produce, producing, and possessing child pornography. Between July 2022 and March 2024, 27-year-old Hunter Geidl employed and used victims to create child porn videos. He’s also accused of possessing a video of a minor victim engaging in sexual acts. U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger believes there may be other victims and encourages anyone who believes their children had contact with Geidl to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. Geidl is in custody until further proceedings.

 

>>Two Suspected Porch Pirates Arrested in Rochester 

(Rochester, MN) — Two suspected porch pirates are in custody. Rochester police responded to a local area around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday on reports of people taking packages from doorsteps. Witnesses gave descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle. Both 41-year-old Cherish Portillo and 37-year-old Jay Ernst were arrested in a nearby parking lot. A search of the car turned up an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine.

 

>>Building, Occupied Vehicle Hit by Gunfire in Superior

(Superior, WI) — A building and occupied vehicle in Superior were hit by stray gunfire on Sunday. Police responded to the shooting report around 2:17 a.m., finding large groups of people leaving the bars in the area. Officers do not believe the vehicle was the intended target. The car caught fire and took significant damage. The investigation is ongoing.
