(Minneapolis, MN) — Minneapolis police announced today the arrest of a Richfield woman and the identity of the Minneapolis man she’s accused of fatally shooting. 44-year-old Robert Heiland was shot on September 17th near a Minneapolis intersection. Heiland was brought to North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale and died there on September 30th. Police arrested a 28-year-old woman in Eagan on December 4th for felony drug charges and in relation to the homicide. Officials say Heiland’s death appears to be “related to a narcotics deal.”

(Wadena, MN) — A Wadena man faces felony charges of domestic assault, fleeing in a motor vehicle, and a misdemeanor in arson. Otter Tail County deputies responded to a domestic incident report on December 4th. On arrival, the suspect, 49-year-old Sean Weber, was blocking the victim with his car from leaving the Otter Tail County residence. Weber fled and led authorities on a chase down County Highway 75 at high speeds. Stop sticks were deployed, Weber’s car entered a ditch, and he was arrested. The victim told deputies Weber assaulted them and attempted to set the bed on fire and “burn the place to the ground.” Weber’s next court appearance is December 30th.

(Rochester, MN) — A sex offender pleads not guilty to felony and misdemeanor escape charges after escaping from a Rochester housing facility. Police went to arrest 43-year-old Kurt Jennings around 1:30 p.m. Monday after learning the man disconnected his ankle monitor. Jennings is committed to the Minnesota Sex Offender Program as a Sexually Dangerous Person. Police deployed a K9 and started searching Jennings’s last location, where they were alerted a man was prowling cars nearby. Officers spotted Jennings walking on Highway 14, and he fled after they announced his arrest. Jennings was caught and admitted to cutting his monitor off and leaving the Olmsted County facility. He’s being held on $100,000 bail without conditions.

(Fargo, ND) — A Fargo man is charged with felony theft after allegedly making over $75,000 in purchases with his employer’s credit card. Levi Mayo worked for A&R Drywall, regularly used the company credit card to buy gas and building materials, and then turned in the receipts. The owner saw increased charges between November 2023 and May 2023 and investigated. Mayo admitted to buying energy drinks that equaled a tank of gas three to five times a day, not believing the total was so high.

(Barron County, WI) — Barron County, Wisconsin, deputies rescued two men from an icy plunge Wednesday. Officials responded near the Pokegama Boat Landing around 6:54 p.m. after a 911 call reported two people and a UTV broke the ice. On arrival, a family nearby had already taken the two men out of the water. Both from Chetek, a 25-year-old man was treated at the scene, and a 55-year-old man was brought to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

(Minneapolis, MN) – It appears gas prices across Minnesota are stuck in neutral during the holiday season. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Minnesota is $2.85. It was the same price yesterday and is only two cents cheaper than a week ago. A month ago, Minnesotans were paying about the same price. The state average is almost 20 cents cheaper than the national average.

(Moorhead, MN) – Officials at Minnesota State University Moorhead are making an effort to increase enrollment. The new Moorhead Scholars program will promise four years of free tuition for eligible local high schoolers who graduate with a 3.0 grade-point average. The program starts in the fall of 2025. The goal is to double the number of Moorhead High School students who attend college at MSUM.

(Roseville, MN) – Time is running out for Minnesota lottery tickets that still have not been claimed. State lottery officials say no one has come forward to claim the one million dollar prize from the Minnesota Raffle drawing from New Year’s Day earlier this year. The winning ticket was purchased at the Coborn’s in Delano. The winner has to claim the prize before the end of this year, or the money goes back to the state. According to the lottery website, there is still a $100,000 ticket and three $50,000 Powerball tickets to be claimed, and the winning ticket for the $731,000 Gopher 5 Jackpot on December 11th has not been claimed.
