(Woodbury, MN) — One of the two children who fell through the ice Monday on Markgrafs Lake in Woodbury is dead. A girl, 12, and a boy, 16, fell through the ice around 4:30 p.m. and were rescued a short while later. Stillwater Area Public Schools announced today (FRI) that the 16-year-old, Yayhe Abdi, died from his injuries. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner lists Abdi’s cause of death as drowning. Multiple people across the state have fallen through the ice this week.

(Cannon Falls, MN) — The Cannon Falls Police Department is identifying a man who went missing Tuesday while walking his dog near the Cannon River. 60-year-old Christopher Dobson left home on a wooded trail Tuesday night and hasn’t returned. His dog was found wet at a neighbor’s house. Dobson is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 165 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a long dark jacket.

(Pelican Rapids, MN) — Two people suffered injuries, one seriously, in a crash north of Pelican Rapids Thursday. State Patrol responded around 11:45 p.m. to the Highway 59 collision. A northbound SUV and a southbound car hit head-on. Car driver, 55-year-old Steven Kieffer, was brought to a Fargo hospital with life-threatening injuries. The SUV driver, 28-year-old Mercedes Mondragon, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

(Fergus Falls, MN) — State Patrol is identifying the 18-year-old killed in a head-on semi crash near Fergus Falls Thursday. Cadence Hartman of Battle Lake was pronounced dead at the scene. Hartman’s car and a semi collided on Highway 210 in Wall Lake. The semi-driver, 63-year-old David Marsh of Staples, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

(Rochester, MN) — A 76-year-old Rochester man is missing. Uong Ong was last seen driving away from his home Tuesday and has not returned. Ong is described as Asian-American, 5 feet 1 inch tall, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair. Ong does not have his diabetes medication with him. His car is a light blue 2004 Toyota Camry sedan.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A man in his 20s is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a shooting and possible carjacking in Minneapolis Thursday. Police responded to multiple 911 calls of shots fired and vehicles leaving a south Minneapolis alley around 11:30 p.m. Officers found the victim with gunshot wounds and brought him to the hospital. Investigators say up to five people left the alley in a vehicle and possibly a second car. No arrests have been made.

The fair says Melissa Etheridge and Indigo Girls “Yes We Are Tour” will stop at the Grandstand on Sunday, August 24. Tickets will go on sale next Thursday, December 12. Like all concerts at the fair, there will be a fireworks show, weather permitting, after the concert. The 2025 Minnesota State Fair dates are August 21 through Labor Day, September 1.
