(Beaver Dam, WI) — Wisconsin has issued an Amber Alert for a missing, pregnant teenager. Sophia Franklin of Beaver Dam was last seen Sunday around 5 p.m. at her home. She’s believed to be with 40-year-old Gary Day, the father of the child. The two have a no-contact order. Day was last seen at his home Monday around 7:50 a.m. Franklin is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, three months pregnant, 186 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Day is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 165 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes. They may be traveling in a 2014 black Buick LaCrosse with Arkansas license BBR20L.
>>Man Pleads Guilty to Stabbing Teen Fleet Farm Employee
(Carver, MN) — A 31-year-old man pleaded guilty today to first-degree assault in a Fleet Farm stabbing in Carver County. On November 24th, 2024, Gerald Hudson stabbed a 17-year-old Fleet Farm employee in the back of the neck. Hudson fled the scene and was arrested in Chanhassen. He’s been sentenced to seven years in prison.

(Fargo, ND) — A former girls swim coach in the Fargo-Moorhead area is charged with sexually assaulting a minor. Court documents say 38-year-old Ronald Hehn provided swim lessons to 20 people in his apartment complex. An athlete complained of soreness in her legs. Hehn massaged her legs, buttocks, and crotch for 20 minutes, which was all captured on surveillance footage. Hehn denied any inappropriate contact. He’s next due in court on March 19th. Hehn is a former West Fargo Packers girl and Concordia College swim coach and was in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic trials.

(St. Paul, MN) — Two people are in custody following reports of shots fired at a St. Paul apartment building this morning. Police responded to an apartment complex around 5:30 a.m. Surrounding streets were blocked off, and SWAT team members evacuated residents. Two people were arrested, and no injuries were reported. No other information is available.

(St. Paul, MN) – Republican leaders started the recall process Tuesday night against the 66 House Democrats who have refused to show up for work at the Capitol. They need 25 signed petitions for each district, and then eventually the Minnesota Supreme Court could decide if the recall is warranted. GOP Party Chair Alex Plechash asks Democrats to “talk to your constituents, think about what you’re doing, consider what you’re not doing, and just do the right thing…which is getting back to work.”Republicans say they plan to file all of the recall petitions with the Secretary of State’s office on Monday.

Governor Tim Walz is encouraging eligible Minnesotans to claim a Child Tax Credit as they file their taxes. Walz says for the nearly 225,000 families that claimed the credit last year, “That was money for books, that was money for a new pair of boots, that was money for food. That was money to make sure the folks keep the heat on in the house for the child. Those things are really important, and that’s the type of tax policy we should be debating across this country.” The tax credit of up to $1,750 per child is estimated to reduce child poverty by a third in Minnesota.
