>>MN Queer Legislators Respond to Pause in GAC at Children’s Minnesota

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Queer Legislators Caucus is voicing strong concern after Children’s Minnesota announced it will temporarily pause some gender-affirming care services. Hospital leaders say the pause comes amid federal threats and investigations targeting trans healthcare, pressure they warn could jeopardize the hospital’s operations. State lawmakers say the latest move follows escalating federal actions, including threats of investigation from Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, who has questioned the safety of gender-affirming treatments. In a statement, members of the Queer Legislators Caucus say the situation places vulnerable trans youth at risk and puts hospitals in “an impossible position.” They emphasized that gender-affirming care remains legal in Minnesota and vowed to protect access for patients, families, and providers. Meanwhile, Republican legislators are applauding healthcare position changes like this, such as the American Medical Association’s reversal on gender-related surgeries on children.

The suit argues the actions violate long-standing protections for sensitive locations and disrupt students’ ability to learn. They’re asking the court to block enforcement on or near school property except in extraordinary circumstances.

The new site, “Fact First: The real story on services that support Minnesota,” provides verified information and addresses inaccurate narratives that state leaders say have been used to justify deploying federal immigration agents, requesting private data, and withholding critical funding. Commissioner Tikki Brown says misleading claims put communities at risk, adding that Minnesota’s fraud investigations rely on verified data, not estimates or unsubstantiated allegations. The “Facts First” webpage will be updated with new claims as needed.
