>>2 Found Dead in Shakopee Hotel Room After Swingers Club Party

(Shakopee, MN) — Two people were found dead in a Shakopee hotel room on New Year’s Day. Police found a man and woman dead in their room around 8:15 p.m. Officers came to do a welfare check after staff said they hadn’t heard from 47-year-old Josh Quale, who was supposed to check out December 29th, but his truck was still parked outside. Inside the room were Quale’s and 54-year-old Shantelle Bresson’s bodies, illegal narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. Field tests were positive for methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl. Quale and Bresson were at the hotel for a party, “Big O” Frozen Fantasy Event, hosted by Midwest Euphoria, an adult swingers club. Police believe both victims died of an overdose.

 

>>Death of Isanti County Jail Inmate Under Investigation 

(Cambridge, MN) — Authorities are investigating the death of a person being held in the Isanti County jail. The sheriff’s office says first responders used an AED to try to save the inmate Thursday morning, but they died in the hospital. They did not release the inmate’s name. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.

(Sauk Rapids, MN) — A pickup crash in Sauk Rapids this morning killed a man. State Patrol says the crash happened around 6:00 on Highway 23. The driver, 24-year-old Jhon Linarez, was northbound when he went off the road and hit a utility box and a business sign. Roads were wet at the time of the crash.

 

>>Minneapolis Mother Charged with Aiding an Offender, Her Son

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Minneapolis mother faces multiple charges after allegedly giving her teenage son a gun, which was used for crime. Police seized four guns from Tashalon Adams’ house during a search in June. Adams told police she stowed a gun there for her son and would give it to him when he said he needed protection. The son is connected to multiple crimes.

 

>>Virginia Man Charged with Sexual Assault of 3 Minors 

(Virginia, MN) — A Virginia man faces charges of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor for assaulting three girls, two of whom were his daughters. In February, St. Louis County Social Services interviewed a 14- and 16-year-old after one of the victims told their grandmother that their father, 37-year-old Benjamen Johnson, touched them inappropriately. One of the victims said the abuse began when she was three years old. An interview in August with a 12-year-old accused Johnson of touching her when she was 4 to 6 years old. Johnson is in custody and looks at up to 30 years in prison.

 

>>Sen. Mitchell Requests Trial Happen After 2025 Legislative Session

(St. Paul, MN) — Senator Nicole Mitchell of Woodbury requests her trial happen after this year’s legislative session. Mitchell is charged with first-degree burglary after allegedly breaking into her stepmother’s home in Detroit Lakes in April. She filed a motion today asking that the trial be delayed until “the first available date after May 19th.” Governor Tim Walz and officials on both sides have called for her to resign.
