(Undated) — Accused January 6th rioters from Minnesota are pardoned. Fifteen people from the state had charges dropped by President Donald Trump after he released a blanket pardon for close to 1,500 people involved in the 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Eight of the Minnesotans had been convicted and sentenced. Those who are behind bars are expected to be released sometime today.

(St. Paul, MN) — Attorney General Keith Ellison joins 20 other attorneys general in blocking President Donald Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship. The lawsuit states the order is unconstitutional, as birthright citizenship is guaranteed under the 14th Amendment and Section 1401 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. They demand immediate relief to stop the order from taking effect. The Districts of Columbia and San Francisco join the group in the lawsuit.

(St. Paul, MN) – One week ago today, a court ruled that DFL Representative Brad Tabke won the November election for the Shakopee area. House Republicans still have not publicly acknowledged his victory, only saying they continue to review the case. Today, Democratic leaders urged Republicans to honor the will of the voters and accept the results. Brad Tabke says, “If we by any stretch of the imagination were to overturn this election in Shakopee it would be a completely and totally unprecedented new thing to happen in our state, changing how we handle partisan politics and how we handle the work for Minnesotans.” Republicans are scheduled to hold session tomorrow afternoon.

 

>>St. Cloud Man Allegedly Robs Juvenile Child at Gunpoint

(St. Cloud, MN) — A St. Cloud man faces aggravated robbery charges after allegedly robbing another person at gunpoint. The criminal complaint says a juvenile child reported 18-year-old Adam Yusuf to police after he robbed him of his iPhone. He said Yusuf brought him to a car wash/gas station before looking in the snow for a phone. Once found, Yusuf pulled the gun and demanded the phone and what the boy had in his pockets. He then fled. Police say Yusuf’s car matches surveillance video. Yusuf is ineligible to have a gun after being convicted of felony assault in 2023.

 

>>Suspected Drug OD Cases Rise in Rochester

(Rochester, MN) — Another suspected drug overdose in Rochester this morning. Police responded to a man who collapsed outside around 11:20. The temperature at the time was five below zero. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was brought to a hospital for treatment. Last week, a 20-year-old man was hospitalized, and the week before, a 52-year-old man died of a suspected overdose, and a 19-year-old woman was saved using Narcan.

 

>>Vehicle Breaks Through Ice on Southwest MN Lake, Man and Dog Rescued

(Cottonwood, MN) — A southwest Minnesota man and his dog are recovering after their vehicle went through the ice Monday morning on Cottonwood Lake. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the 68-year-old man and small dog were pulled from the water by a local resident and firefighters. The man was taken to the hospital and his dog was brought to a veterinarian. Sheriff’s deputies are reminding people that ice conditions can vary across frozen bodies of water.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A private jet made an emergency landing at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport due to a failure of the nose gear. The aircraft departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida en route to Flying Cloud Airport in in Eden Prairie. The pilot reported the nose gear issue and diverted to MSP for the emergency landing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

(Eagan, MN) – The Minnesota Vikings are signing head coach Kevin O’Connell to a multi-year contract extension. The team did not release the terms of the agreement. O’Connell’s Vikings went 14-and-3 in the 2024 regular season before losing to the LA Rams in the wild-card round of the NFC playoffs. He has a 34-and-17 regular season record in Minnesota and is the first coach in history with multiple 13-win seasons. Vikings owner/president Mark Wilf said about O’Connell in a statement, “He has established a culture that positions us for sustained success, and he will continue to set the standard as we pursue a championship for Vikings fans.”

(Minneapolis, MN) — After almost 10 years, Twin Cities restaurant Revival has closed its doors permanently. Revival was known for its Tennessee hot fried chicken, burgers, and smoked meats. Over 100 employees are out of work as all four of Revial’s locations in Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, and the Market at Maclom yards closed.
