>>Woman Found in Cell at Sherburne County Jail 

(Elk River, MN) — Authorities are investigating the death of a woman being held in the Sherburne County Jail. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office was called to the jail in Elk River Tuesday morning after 23-year-old Tyrah Shawnice Davis of Little Canada was found unresponsive. First responders tried to save her, but Davis died at the scene. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will determine her cause and manner of death.

 

>>Man Indicted for Involuntary Reservation on Bois Forte Reservation

(Duluth, MN) — A 50-year-old man has been indicted on two counts of involuntary manslaughter. On December 17th, St. Louis County officials responded to several calls of an intoxicated woman walking near the Fortune Bay Resort and Casino on the Bois Forte Reservation. Upon arrival, an unconscious woman was found lying in the snow and pronounced dead. Vehicle debris was found scattered around the scene. Police called the casino for surveillance footage, trying to find a vehicle that matched the debris found. Staff identified a car registered to Eric Peterson. A search warrant of Peterson’s home found evidence of the crash.

 

>>Man on Trial for Feb. 2023 Waite Park Murder

(Waite Park, MN) — A man accused in the February 2023 murder of 52-year-old Andrea Cottew is on trial. 30-year-old Barquez Bedford is charged with three counts of murder, including first-degree premeditated murder. He was found competent earlier this month to stand trial on February 7th. Waite Park Police found Cottew dead in her apartment while conducting a welfare check. Her key fob, phone, wallet, and keys were missing. Police believe Bedford used Cottew’s key fob to enter her apartment. Bedford allegedly admitted multiple details about the murder to police that were not made public but denied killing Cottew.

 

>>Twin Cities School Worker Charged with Possessing CSAM

(Maplewood, MN) — A recess and traffic monitor in the Twin Cities faces 10 counts of child pornography possession. 30-year-old William Haslach was charged and arrested Tuesday after an investigation in Ramsey County. In November, investigators linked around 800 files of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to Haslach’s IP address. In a search on January 2nd, police found multiple USB drives and devices with CSAM. Haslach is now on administrative leave. It’s unknown if any students were involved. Haslach’s next hearing is on February 27th.

 

>>No Injuries in Moorhead Garage Explosion

(Moorhead, MN) — No one is injured after a possible explosion in Moorhead this morning. Fire crews responded to a residence around 10:10 on a report of an explosion in the home’s garage. The fire was contained to the garage. Officials say there was no fire damage to the roof, and smoke damage inside the home was minimal. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

(Edina, MN) — The death of a legendary former boys hockey coach weighs on the Edina community. Edina Public Schools announced Coach Willard Ikola passed Monday evening at the age of 92. “Ike” coached for three decades before retiring in 1991, winning 616 games, eight state titles, and more.
