The governor’s bonding bill would also invest a new Minnesota State Patrol headquarters and provide 10 million dollars for Rapidan Dam recovery efforts. More than 144 million would go to water and transportation infrastructure, 239 million to public safety projects, 44 million to housing and updating the Minneapolis Veterans Home, and 395 million to maintain and renovate state facilities, including Minnesota State and U of M buildings.

His attorney argues that a Rule 20 exam could shed light on his mental state, as Matariyeh is prescribed medication for schizophrenia. However, the county attorney opposes this, stating he has not shown any concerning behavior. Matariyeh faces multiple charges from an October incident involving the shooting of two individuals and an attempted carjacking. He is held on $3.5 million bail and has additional charges in Hennepin and Carver Counties. A ruling on the competency examination is expected soon.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A felon from Minneapolis will spend six years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm. Court records show 34-year-old George Matthews the Fourth is accused of threatening to shoot a man on a light-rail train last June. Officers located Matthews at a light-rail station and asked him to stop, but he ran off and dropped a backpack. They located a 9-millimeter pistol with one round of ammunition in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine in the backpack. Matthews was arrested a short time later wearing a Smith and Wesson belt clip. He’s prohibited from carrying a gun due to previous felony convictions.
