(Moorhead, MN) — Moorhead police are searching for a 15-year-old boy last seen in 2024. Josiah Shipp ran away from his residence on December 4th and hasn’t returned after more than 30 days. Shipp is described as Black, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, sweatpants, and Air Force Nikes.

(Ely, MN) — An 80-year-old woman is dead after her motorized scooter combusted outside an Ely care center. Police responded to the Boundary Waters Care Center around 4:30 p.m. Monday on a report of a woman who suffered severe burns from her scooter catching fire. The victim was brought to an Ely hospital, then airlifted to a Duluth hospital, where she died. A staff member who helped the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The State Fire Marshal is investigating.

(Hopkins, MN) — The mother of a young Hopkins girl who died after having an asthma attack is sentenced to more than three years in prison. Rachel Lynn and Anthony Modrow did not take their nine-year-old daughter to the hospital after she came home from a friend’s complaining that she was having an attack. A family friend eventually called 911, and the girl was taken to the hospital, where she was later declared brain dead and died. Today, Rachel Lynn was sentenced to 41 months in prison, while Anthony Modrow’s trial is set to begin later this month.

(Eagan, MN) — A U.S. Army soldier from Minnesota has died following an accident in South Korea. 20-year-old Private First Class Edwin Thomas tragically lost his life in a flight-related incident on December 19th, as confirmed by the Army. After enlisting in the Army in 2023, Thomas received several accolades, including the Army Aviation Badge, the Korea Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17th, at 10:30 a.m. at Klecatsky and Sons Eagan Chapel in Eagan.

(St. Paul, MN) – Psychedelic mushrooms could be used to treat some medical and mental health conditions if the legislature passes a proposal from a state task force. Chair and adjunct U of M Professor Jessica Nielson says a Phase 3 clinical trial is looking at treating depression with psilocybin: “One looks at treatment-resistant depression, run by Compass Pathways and enrolling participants at the UMN. And another company called Usona that’s doing a trial for major depressive disorder.” Nielson says the task force recommended Minnesota lawmakers approve a state-regulated clinical program for the therapeutic administration of psychedelic mushrooms.

(Undated) – The Minnesota Twins are hitting the road for their first trip of the new year. The annual Twins Winter Caravan begins in two weeks, making stops in nine cities in four states. Director of Business Communications Matt Hodson says this gives the players and organization a great chance to meet the fans in their hometowns. He says the Twins don’t just belong to the Twin Cities, “So it means a lot for us to get out and get to our communities where our fans live, work, and play.” The Winter Caravan is on January 21 and 22 and will make stops in places like Rochester, St. Cloud, Willmar, Owatonna, and Mankato.
