Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced that her office, along with the BCA, has obtained hard drives of evidence in the Renee Good and Alex Pretti killings. Moriarty said, “We need transparency. We need cooperation. Our community needs it. Alex Pretti’s and Renee Good’s families deserve it. Julio Sosa-Celis deserves it. Our Democracy requires it.” Sosa-Celis was injured in the third shooting during Operation Metro Surge. Moriarty says this added evidence will help state authorities further investigate these shootings and come to a conclusion. Moriarty says her office along with the BCA have already started reviewing this newly obtained evidence. She would not give a timeline on when any decisions will be announced.

(Fairmont, MN) — Authorities are investigating after human bones and teeth were discovered at Sylvania Park in Fairmont. The remains, found by a citizen, were confirmed to be human by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. Because the remains appear to be old and the park has Native American historical significance, the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council is working with the State Archaeologist, forensic anthropologists, and other experts to determine whether the site may be an unrecorded cemetery. A section of the park has been closed while the investigation continues. Fairmont police say there is no known threat to the public.

(Mason, MI) — A Minnesota student-athlete is the new USA High School Clay Target League national champion. Nevyn Hengel of Sibley East High School captured the individual title Sunday in Mason, Michigan. After qualifying with a 99 on Saturday, Hengel fired a perfect 100 in the championship round before outlasting 15 other perfect shooters in a dramatic shoot-off to claim the national crown. Another Minnesotan, Nina Slingsby of Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, finished runner-up in the girls’ competition. Nearly 3,000 athletes from 469 high schools across the country competed in this year’s national championship.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Lynx are expanding free access to their games through a new partnership with KARE 11. Three marquee games this month will be simulcast on KARE 11 and the free streaming platform Victory+, beginning with the July 15th matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks. The broadcasts are expected to reach about 1.5 million households across Minnesota and the team’s local television market. Team officials say the agreement gives more fans another free way to watch Lynx basketball as interest in the WNBA continues to grow.
