(Redwood Falls, MN) — A man has died after becoming trapped in a grain bin this morning in rural Redwood County.
The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office says emergency crews were called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. Despite rescue efforts, the man was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released. The incident remains under investigation.

>>Iron Range Woman Sentenced to 4 Years in Fentanyl Overdose Death

(Hibbing, MN) — A woman from Hibbing is sentenced to four years in prison for providing the fentanyl that led to the fatal overdose of a Mountain Iron man. St. Louis County prosecutors say 21-year-old Ashley Cook pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the July 2023 death of 25-year-old Isaiah Deegan. The investigation found that Cook sold the fentanyl to Deegan at a gas station in Gilbert earlier in the day. She was arrested after a nearly nine-month investigation into drug sales.

>>Ellison Sues Trump Administration Over BRIC Decision

(St. Paul, MN) – Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has joined 20 states in suing the Trump Administration over its decision to shut down the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s BRIC program. BRIC stands for Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities, a program designed to protect communities from natural disasters before they occur. Ellison’s news release says that for the past 30 years, this program has provided money and resources that have protected property and saved lives. The lawsuit states that the President can not legally terminate this program because Congress funds it.

>>Welcome Home, Soldiers

(Brooklyn Park, MN)– Five Minnesota Army National Guard Soldiers are back home after a nine-month deployment to the Middle East. The Soldiers, part of the 1904th Acquisitions Team based in Brooklyn Park, returned last week after supporting Operation Spartan Shield. Their mission involved providing contracting support to ensure troops in the region had access to essential supplies and services. Brigade Commander Col. Joel Stamp praised the team’s performance, calling them a “force multiplier” whose efforts earned numerous accolades. He also thanked the families, employers, and communities who supported the soldiers during their deployment. The 1904th last deployed in 2019 to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

>>General Mills Fined for Air Violations

(St. Paul, MN) The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has fined Minnesota-based General Mills more than 18 thousand dollars for violations of its air permit. The agency states that, for five years, General Mills failed to file the required reports with the MPCA. The MPCA states that in 2022 and 2023, General Mills exceeded permitted pollutant levels. In 2024, after making repairs to the boiler, the company was found to comply with state regulations.

>>Major Construction Project Soon in Mankato

(Mankato, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Transportation is inviting the public to an open house on Tuesday, July 29th, to learn more about a major construction project scheduled for 2026. The project includes significant repairs to the Veterans Memorial Bridge and updates to the Belgrade Avenue Bridge, which spans Highway 169 and connects Mankato and North Mankato. MnDOT says the work will also include new ramp signals, modified ramp configurations, and sidewalk replacements. The open house will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Blue Earth County Library in Mankato. There’s no formal presentation planned—residents can stop by at their convenience to ask questions and view project details.

(Minneapolis) – Minneapolis Animal Care and Control is hosting “Camp MACC” tomorrow (Thursday) to promote shelter adoptions. Several animals are ready to find their forever homes and new families. MACC is waiving adoption fees tomorrow, and volunteers will be on hand to make sure the adoption process runs smoothly. Hours for the adoption camp are from 1 to 6 p.m.

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Wild have released their schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 regular season. The Wild will open the season on the road in St. Louis on Thursday, October 9. The Wild’s home opener in the newly named Xcel Energy Center, formerly known as the Grand Casino Arena, will be on Saturday, October 11, when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Of course, this season will also feature the Winter Olympics, so there will be a break for the NHL from February 6 to 22nd.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Lynx improved to 20-and-4 with a 79-66 win over the 15-and-7 Phoenix Mercury this afternoon (Wed) in Minneapolis. Kayla McBride led Minnesota with 18 points, Courtney Williams had 12, Alanna Smith scored 11, and Napheesa Collier finished with ten points. The Lynx are 12-and-0 at Target Center this season. McBride, Collier, Williams, and coach Cheryl Reeve are headed to Indianapolis this weekend for the WNBA All-Star Game.
