(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota State Patrol is mourning the loss of Trooper Mollie McClure of the St. Cloud District. Officials say McClure died in an off-duty accident on Waubay Lake in South Dakota. McClure had served with the State Patrol since October of 2021, and a video of her rescuing a baby deer trapped in a roadside fence went viral in 2023. A statement from the agency says her professionalism, compassion, and commitment to service left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community.

 

>>Drug Dealer Found Guilty of Conspiring to Distribute Fentanyl

(St. Paul, MN) – A Minneapolis man will spend the next decade in federal prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking ring. Prosecutors say 25-year-old Robiel Lee Williams helped smuggle tens of thousands of fentanyl pills into Minnesota, hidden inside stuffed animals. Authorities say the drugs were mailed from Phoenix to Twin Cities addresses. Williams was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and five years of supervised release. The case involved multiple law enforcement agencies across the metro.

 

>>Minnesota Chiropractor Charged With Sexual Assault

(Grand Meadow, MN) — A Grand Meadow chiropractor is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a client during an appointment. Dillon Denisen is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct in a prohibited occupational relationship. Mower County officials say the assault happened June 25th at Meadow Area Chiropractic Clinic. Denisen is currently out on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 10th.

 

>>Two Osseo School Officials on Leave, Under Investigation

(Maple Grove, MN) – Two administrators in Osseo Area Schools are under investigation. Assistant Superintendent Kelli Parpart and Maple Grove Senior High Principal Sara Vernig were placed on administrative leave on June 9th. District officials have not disclosed the reason for the investigation.

 

>>Mound Couple Faces Felony Tax Charges

(St. Paul, MN) — A Mound couple faces ten felony counts each for failure to file individual income tax returns and pay income tax. The Minnesota Department of Revenue (MDR) says Todd and Joy Gorr owe $66,000 in income tax, penalties, and interest after failing to file taxes for the years 2019 through 2023. They allegedly did this despite earning taxable income from multiple employers and several businesses that list them as owners. The MDR says banking records show the Gorrs used their extra income for recreation and vacations instead of paying taxes. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both. 

 

>>Sen. Mohamed Denounces DOJ’s Lawsuit Against MN

(St. Paul, MN) — Democratic Senator Zaynab Mohamed says the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) lawsuit against Minnesota’s Prosperity Act, a.k.a. the MN Dream Act, is “another example of an extremist, anti-immigrant agenda that demonizes our neighbors for political gain. The lawsuit seeks to strip undocumented residents of in-state tuition rates under the Prosperity Act of 2013 and the North Star Promise of 2023, which provides free college tuition at public and tribal colleges for those with a gross yearly income under $80,000. Mohamed says the lawsuit is further proof that President Donald Trump and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller are trying to punish communities for welcoming immigrant families. 

 

>>Senators Smith, Klobuchar Blast Passage of Republican Budget Bill 

(Washington, D.C.) – Minnesota’s U.S. senators are speaking out against the Trump budget reconciliation bill that passed today on a 51-50 vote. Senator Tina Smith says, “What Republicans did here is simple: they voted to kick 16 million people off health care insurance while giving massive tax breaks to billionaires and corporations, and managed to still raise the debt by five trillion dollars.” Senator Amy Klobuchar called it, “a betrayal of the American people.” GOP senators claim the budget bill delivers tax relief for small businesses and families, secures the border, and invests in law enforcement. 

 

>>Minnesota Lawmakers Approve Humphrey Statue for U.S. Capitol

(St. Paul, MN) – Minnesota lawmakers have approved $325,000 to send a statue of Hubert H. Humphrey to Washington, D.C. The sculpture will be placed in the National Statuary Hall, replacing the current statue of Henry Mower Rice. Humphrey was mayor of Minneapolis in the 1940s, served as vice president under Lyndon Johnson, and spent over 20 years as a U.S. senator.
