(Moorhead, MN) – Senator Amy Klobuchar announced her plan to expand Minnesota’s rural economy today during a stop in Moorhead. Klobuchar’s plan includes opening and expanding domestic and international markets for rural businesses and farmers, help families with day-to-day costs and thrive in Greater Minnesota, and modernize rural broadband and infrastructure. Klobuchar made the announcement while campaigning. She is the DFL-endorsed candidate running against several Republican challengers.

(St. Paul, MN) – Minnesota is among a group of 17 states that just scored a court victory against some of the largest egg producers in the country. Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that the evidence showed three egg producers coordinated for years to influence the daily price index for eggs. In the victory, the states secured more than 50 million eggs for consumers nationwide and $3.3 million dollars from the producers. Ellison says through the settlement, Minnesota will obtain roughly two million eggs that will be delivered to food banks and community organizations.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota is tightening restrictions on dogs and cats entering the state following outbreaks of the New World Screwworm in Texas and New Mexico. The Minnesota Board of Animal Health says pets cannot be imported from locations with active infestations, and additional requirements now apply to animals coming from affected states. State Veterinarian Dr. Brian Hoefs says the changes are intended to reduce the risk of the destructive parasite reaching Minnesota while still allowing most pet imports to continue. New World Screwworm larvae feed on living tissue and can cause severe wounds in animals.

(Duluth, MN) — A Duluth woman is facing a felony assault charge after police say she threw a knife at another woman Tuesday evening after a verbal argument turned violent. Police say 36-year-old Karima Abdulmalik threw the knife, leaving the victim with a minor cut. Abdulmalik was arrested and booked into the St. Louis County Jail on a pending charge of second-degree assault.
>>Homeowner Hospitalized After Mt. Iron House Fire
(Mt. Iron, MN) — A homeowner was hospitalized after an early morning house fire (WED) in Mt. Iron. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says everyone escaped safely after working smoke detectors alerted the occupants, but several pets were initially unaccounted for. The homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation after putting out the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

(Undated) — More than 100 members of the Minnesota National Guard are in Washington, D.C., on a voluntary deployment to help provide security for the America250 celebration over the July 4th holiday. Air Force Major Nathan Wallin says 107 Minnesota soldiers are joining more than 5,000 National Guard members from across the country. Most are with the Mankato-based 2nd Battalion, 135th Infantry Regiment.

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Wild have lost one of their most popular players on the first day of free agency. Multiple reports say Mats Zuccarello is signing a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings. Zuccarello scored 15 goals and 54 points last season with the Wild on their run to the playoffs. Zuccarello spent seven seasons with the Wild.

(Minneapolis) – The Minnesota Lynx have announced their star player Napheesa Collier is getting closer to a return. Collier had surgeries on both her right and left ankles during the offseason. The team announced Collier has returned to practice activities and continues to make progress as expected. The Lynx are leading the WNBA with a 15-4 record. Minnesota is at the New York Liberty on Friday night.
