>>Minneapolis Shooting Kills Man in 20s

(Minneapolis, MN) — A man in his twenties is dead after a shooting in North Minneapolis this morning. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 calls about gunfire. The victim was found suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was brought to North Memorial Health, where he later died. Investigators say around 2:35 a.m., two men were riding electric scooters when one collapsed after gunfire rang out. No arrests have been made. The victim has yet to be identified.

 

>>Boy Airlifted to Hospital in Critical Condition After UTV Rollover

(Alexandria, MN) — An early morning UTV rollover in Alexandria required a boy to be airlifted to a trauma center for his injuries. Douglas County deputies responded to the crash around 12:30 a.m. A 911 call reports the vehicle was found on the side of the road with an unresponsive boy still buckled inside it. The kid was brought to Alomere Hospital with life-threatening injuries, then airlifted. Investigators say the boy was not wearing a helmet and is believed to have been speeding before losing control and rolling several times. The boy’s identity, age, and condition are unknown.

 

>>Victims Identified in Fatal St. Cloud Crash

(St. Cloud, MN) — St. Cloud police are identifying the three men involved in a fatal crash Wednesday night. The two men killed are 59-year-old Suleiman Abdi, who was driving, and passenger 45-year-old Craig Hennen, both of St. Cloud. The pickup driver who broadsided their vehicle, 26-year-old Christopher Johnson-Caine of Sauk Rapids, was brought to St. Cloud Hospital in critical condition. Police say just before midnight, an officer saw a northbound pickup speeding. When approaching the truck during a traffic stop, the driver threw a handgun out the window and sped off. Shortly after, dispatch responded to a crash nearby in which the pickup was involved. Investigators say the pickup was speeding when it hit the other vehicle, killing the two men inside it. No other information is known.

(Columbia Heights, MN) – The Columbia Heights community honored the life of 16-year-old Manny Collins Jr. on Thursday, after his remains were found in an Elk River landfill last week. Family, friends, and neighbors joined for a candlelight vigil to remember the teen, releasing balloons into the sky. Manny was reported missing on May 8th and was last seen with his father. Authorities say they have a person of interest but will not identify them.

>>Essentia Twin Ports MNA Nurses Reach Deal

(Duluth, MN) — Essentia Twin Ports union nurses are celebrating the holiday with a tentative agreement and averting an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike. The Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) says hours at the bargaining table led to updated staffing language, including a one-year freeze on reductions to current staffing ratios, protections for Labor Management Committee language, and a wage increase of 9.75% spread over the next three years of the contract. Nurses will vote on ratifying the agreement in the next few weeks. The fight continues for MNA members at multiple Essentia clinics, who will see ULP strikes on July 8th and 10th if no deals are made.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Lynx look to make it two straight wins when they entertain Golden State tonight at the Target Center. The 15-2 Lynx have the best record in the WNBA after Thursday’s 92-75 win over Washington in Minneapolis. Napheesa Collier scored 28 points in that win. The visiting Valkyries are 9-7 on the season following back-to-back wins over the Sky and Storm. Golden State hasn’t played since a Sunday win over Seattle and will also visit Atlanta, Indiana, and Las Vegas on the trek. Tonight’s tip time is set for 7 p.m. in downtown Minneapolis.

 

>>Duluth’s 148th Fighter Wing Celebrates July 4th with Flyovers

(Duluth, MN) — Closing out Duluth’s Navy Week, the 148th Fighter Wing celebrated the Fourth of July this morning with multiple F-16 flyovers. Wing Commander Col. Nathan Aysta says that for each one, they create two different formations of two F-16s each. The Wing hit eight towns in 90 minutes, including Cloquet, Moose Lake, Hill City, Nashwauk, Tower, Ely, Biwabik, and Duluth. Aysta says this is their way of giving back to the community.
