>>2nd Body Found in Search for Missing Cloquet Couple

(Cloquet, MN) — A second body has turned up in the search for a missing Cloquet couple. According to Cloquet Police and the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Jane Korpela and 64-year-old Daniel Latterall were last seen together on May 26th at a gas station in McGregor. Korpela’s body was found in the woods on June 29th near the SUV they were driving, just two miles north of Aitkin. On Sunday, a drone search in a wet area near the SUV turned up an “item of interest” that was confirmed to be a body the next day. Police believe it is Latterall but are waiting on the autopsy report. The investigation is ongoing, and no foul play is suspected. 

 

>>New Huisentruit Docuseries Coming to Hulu

(Mason City, IA) — A new docuseries covering the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit is coming to Hulu next week. Huisentruit, a TV anchor from Minnesota who worked at KIMT in Mason City, Iowa, went missing on her way to work the early morning of July 27th, 1995. Now, a three-part series by ABC News called “Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit” will air next Tuesday, featuring over twenty new interviews. As of today, Huisentruit’s body has never been found.

 

>>Woman Suspected Drunk in St. Louis County Rollover

(St. Louis County, MN) — Alcohol is considered a factor in a crash in St. Louis County this afternoon that trapped a woman inside a vehicle. Deputies responded to an Unorganized Township around 11:25 on a report of a single-vehicle rollover. First responders helped extricate the 40-year-old Wisconsin woman. The victim was brought to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies say there were no witnesses to the crash, and they are withholding the woman’s name pending formal charges. 

 

>>Major Road Closure Scheduled This Weekend

(Roseville, MN) – Drivers will face another major road closure this coming weekend. MnDOT says the westbound lanes of Interstate 694 will close between Interstate 35W in New Brighton and Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center. The closure begins on Friday at 10 p.m. and will reopen on Monday at 5 a.m. All ramps will close as well. MnDOT recommends drivers use Highways 10, 610, and 169 as detours. The work will include inspecting and repairing bridge decks and repairing and restriping pavement. The eastbound lanes of 694 will close in early August for the same work.

 

>>8 Kayakers Rescued from Sauk River

(Sauk River, MN) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office warns people to stay out of the Sauk River after eight kayakers had to be rescued Saturday afternoon. Deputies responded to the stranded kayakers on the river near Rockville. The group had launched from Eagle Park, hitting multiple areas of low-hanging trees in the water, as well as strong flow and high water levels. First responders helped get them to a nearby shoreline. No one was injured, but two kayaks were lost downstream. Anyone who sees the orange Pelican kayaks should contact deputies. 

 

>>Male Grove City Councilmember Janigo Announces Run for State Senate

(Maple Grove, MN) – A new candidate is throwing her hat in the ring for the Minnesota state Senate. Maple Grove City Councilmember Kristy Janigo announced her campaign for District 37, which includes Maple Grove, Independence, and Medina. Janigo says her platform includes keeping neighborhoods safe, investing in infrastructure, and standing up for Minnesota veterans. Janigo is an Army veteran and served as the legislative chair for the American Legion Department of Minnesota. The seat is currently held by 10-term Republican Senator Warren Limmer.

 

>>St. Louis County Waives Permit Fees for Property Owners Rebuilding After Wildfires

(St. Louis County, MN) — St. Louis County is waiving land use and septic permit fees to assist residents recovering from this spring’s wildfires. The county board approved the temporary measure to ease the financial burden for property owners rebuilding homes and repairing failing septic systems within the disaster zone. It applies only to structures that were damaged or destroyed in the fires. The County Assessor’s staff has been on-site assessing the damage. Preliminary estimates suggest more than 150 structures were affected, including 20-30 residential homes. The fee waiver is effective immediately and runs through January 4th, 2026. 

 

>>Rep. Craig Reports $2.4M in Campaign Donations

(Washington, D.C.) – Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig is running for the U.S Senate, and the campaign dollars are rolling in. The Craig campaign announced its raised more than $2.4 million since launching her campaign two months ago. U.S. Senator Tina Smith is retiring, which creates an open seat. Craig’s challenger on the Democratic side is Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan. Republicans Adam Schwarze and Royce White are also running.

 

>>MDA Recalls Two Meat Products

(St. Paul, MN) — Another recall from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, a day after multiple Ruck’s Ready-To-Eat (RTE) meat products were recalled for Listeria. RTE beef jerky sticks from Top Notch Jerky LLC are being recalled for possible plastic material contamination. The products included were produced on May 27th: RIVERBEND RANCH Original Beef Stick and Jalapeño Beef Stick. Turkey Bacon from Kraft Heinz Foods Company is also being recalled after a possible Listeria contamination. The products included were produced from April 24th through June 11th: Oscar Meyer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL in sizes of 12 ounces, 36 ounces, and 48 ounces.

 

>>Minnesota Wild to Open Preseason September 21st in Winnipeg  

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Wild will play six preseason games this fall. The first exhibition game is on September 21st in Winnipeg. The Wild are scheduled to play a home-and-home series against the Jets, Blackhawks, and Stars. Minnesota and Dallas face off on September 25th in the first game at the newly named Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. The other home games are September 28th against Chicago and September 30th vs. Winnipeg. The Wild lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Vegas Golden Knights in May.
