(Rochester, MN) — Two Rochester 17-year-olds are in custody, and a third suspect remains at large for their roles in a carjacking. Rochester police say multiple law enforcement agencies tracked the suspects as they drove to the Twin Cities after a carjacking was reported at a Rochester home around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. The victim told officers he was in his garage when three suspects dressed in black pistol-whipped him, demanded his vehicle, and fled out of Rochester on Highway 52. Police say the vehicle stopped, the suspects fled on foot, and only two of the suspects were caught and arrested. No description of the third suspect is available.

Court documents say 58-year-old Ronnie Williams created fictitious identities and information to fill out voter registration applications. He submitted them to Foundation One, an organization focused on voter registration efforts in MN, which then forwarded the applications to county election offices throughout the state. For each one submitted, Williams was compensated, and he shared a portion with his co-conspirator. Assistant U.S. Attorney Harry Jacobs and Trial Attorney Jonathan Jacobson of the DOJ’s (U.S. Department of Justice) Public Integrity Section are prosecuting the case.

(Rochester, MN) – Suicide prevention experts will meet for a roundtable discussion Thursday in Rochester. According to Protect Minnesota, suicide accounts for more than 70% of firearm deaths in Minnesota, and the state is seeing a 17 percent increase in suicide by gun deaths over the last decade. The experts will share prevention strategies and how the state’s new Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law is already showing progress in lowering these numbers. The new law allows families and law enforcement with a civil tool to remove firearms from individuals who may be at risk of taking their own lives. The discussion is at noon tomorrow.

(Le Sueur County, MN) — Three juvenile boys are in custody on suspicion of motor vehicle theft in Le Sueur County. Deputies responded to a report around 6:20 this morning of a one-ton truck pulling a gooseneck trailer that was blocking both lanes of traffic just north of Le Sueur County Road 103. The reporting party said the truck entered a ditch, and the occupants fled on foot towards Lake Washington County Park. While investigating, authorities learned the truck and trailer involved were reported stolen from a nearby residence. A perimeter set up around the park made for quick work in finding and arresting the suspects.

The flooding in central Texas is blamed for one hundred nineteen deaths.
