(Itasca County, MN) — A missing Itasca County woman is safe after there was concern for her mental health. Deputies say 63-year-old Cheryl Babcock was last seen in Itasca County on Sunday. Officials were worried about her well-being after her car was found parked on the side of the road near Highway 2 in Deer River.

(Fergus Falls, MN) — A Fergus Falls woman who pleaded guilty to leaving her infant grandchild in a cold, rainy ditch may not serve additional jail time. 52-year-old Anatasia Vaughn pleaded guilty to endangering a child on Monday and was sentenced to 45 days in jail and two years of probation. A judge ordered that, instead of serving jail time, Vaughn work 492 hours of service work within one year. Court documents say a witness driving near Swan Lake around 4:30 p.m. on October 29th, 2024, saw Vaughn walking an infant into a ditch, then leaving without the child. The witness called the police after finding the infant in the ditch. Officers say they found Vaughn impaired and confused, looking for the baby. She was arrested and her BAC was .229.

(St. Paul, MN) — Former Republican State Senator Justin Eichorn is requesting that the federal charge be dropped in his arrest for soliciting sex from a minor. Eichorn pleaded not guilty to the charge in April. Now, he wants the federal charge dismissed, arguing the state’s prosecution is being “vindictive,” as Eichorn is a public officeholder. He was arrested in Bloomington on March 17th after allegedly trying to meet up with a 17-year-old girl he met online for sex. Eichorn was actually messaging an undercover officer. He resigned from the Senate shortly after his arrest.

(Lake Superior, MI) — Isle Royale National Park officials are investigating after two campers were found dead in a Michigan campground. Rangers hiked 11 miles to respond to reports of two people found dead on an island in Lake Superior on Sunday. The island is about20 miles east of Grand Portage, Minnesota. The cause of death is unknown, and the campers have yet to be identified. The investigation is open and active.
>>Man Charged with Aiding Offender in Fatal Blaine Mall Shooting
(Blaine, MN) — A 20-year-old man is charged with aiding and offender related to a Blaine mall shooting last week that killed a 15-year-old boy. Officers responded to a Best Buy parking lot around 5:13 p.m. on Friday at Northtown Mall on a report of a person shot. They found Sudais Omar of Brooklyn Park with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was brought to Mercy Hospital, where he died. The 911 caller described three suspects who fled towards Sky Zone. One of them was found and identified as Ayub Mohamed, who is accused of aiding the other two suspects, who are both juveniles, ages 14 and 15. No other arrests have been made.
