(Washington, DC) — Senator Amy Klobuchar says a resolution urging all television providers and streaming services to carry C-SPAN 2 unanimously passed the U.S. Senate. The Minnesota Democrat and Iowa Republican, Chuck Grassley, introduced the resolution on June 2nd, which marked the 39th anniversary of the first live Senate broadcast on the public affairs network. Klobuchar says, “C-SPAN has connected the Senate with the American people for nearly 40 years-providing the public an opportunity to see their government at work on the Senate floor and in committee meetings.”

(St. Paul, MN) – A Juneteenth celebration will be held this Saturday at the Minnesota State Capitol. Organizers say this year’s celebration will be a launchpad for economic empowerment, wellness, and civic engagement. There will also be a career fair, seminars on home ownership, music, and food. Families are encouraged to attend. The event runs from noon until 6 p.m. on Saturday.

>> Investigation Underway in Moorhead Drive-By Shooting

Moorhead Police are looking for a suspect in a drive-by shooting. The call came in just before noon today. (Thurs) When Police arrived, they located a 17-year-old with a serious gunshot wound. The teen was taken to a local hospital. Police believe the shooting was not random. They say the suspect fled the scene in a white vehicle and is believed to have a firearm. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Red River Regional Dispatch Center and ask for a Moorhead Police supervisor.

>>Under 10 Percent of Minnesota Remains in a Moderate Drought

(Lincoln, NE) — Drought conditions appear to be a thing of the past for almost all of Minnesota. The latest U-S Drought Monitor Map indicates just under 10 percent of the state remains in a moderate drought. That’s down about seven percent, thanks to recent rainfall. The percentage of Minnesota considered abnormally dry fell from 66 to 62 percent this week. North central Minnesota and the northwest corner of the state are the driest areas.

>>Man Accused of Dragging ICE Agent with Car

(Bloomington, MN) – A Guatemalan man is facing federal charges after allegedly dragging an ICE agent with his car in Bloomington. Authorities say it happened Tuesday, as agents tried to detain 39-year-old Roberto Carlos Munoz. He now faces one count of assaulting a federal officer and causing bodily injury. Munoz has a prior conviction for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The ICE agent was hospitalized with severe cuts to his hands and arms and needed more than 30 stitches.

(Rochester, MN) — Rochester police are investigating after a body was found in North Park. The discovery was made this morning. Authorities are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the person and the cause of death.

>>Suspect in Mankato Kwik Trip Stabbing Found Incompetent for Trial

(Mankato, MN) — Blue Earth County court documents say the man charged in a deadly stabbing at a Mankato Kwik Trip is incompetent to stand trial. Prosecutors say 28-year-old Michael Miller fatally stabbed 34-year-old employee Dennis Vosika (VOH’-sick-uh) on March 18th. Miller was found incompetent to proceed with the trial due to schizophrenia and intellectual disability. His second-degree murder trial is suspended, and he will be re-examined in six months.

>>Countdown to Grandma’s Marathon

(Duluth, MN) — Organizers say this weekend’s Grandma’s Marathon could be the biggest in its history. Spokesperson Zach Schneider says they’ve hit record registration numbers.
“We’ve got almost 23 thousand people signed up for one or multiple of the weekend races,”
Schneider says 10,000 are registered for the full marathon, 9,500 for the half, and nearly 2,900 for the 5K. Last year, about 17,500 people finished one of the races. A recent study found each runner typically brings two guests, boosting the weekend’s overall impact.

>>Twins End Six-game Losing Streak

(Cincinnati) – The Minnesota Twins ended their six-game losing streak with a 12-5 win at Cincinnati. The Twins pounded out 17 hits, including four home runs. Byron Buxton hit two of those homers. The Twins have now evened their record at 37 wins and 37 losses. They now head home for a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend at Target Field.

>>Lynx Making Dreams Come True

(Minneapolis) – The Minnesota Lynx have announced the signing of eleven honorary team members to their Junior Lynx Dream Team. The students are from Highland Park Middle School in St. Paul. The kids all signed a one-day contract with Head Coach and President Cheryl Reeve. There was also a media day photo shoot, and the students got paired up with a Lynx player during practice. The program’s idea is to build confidence and instill a passion for the game. The Junior Lynx team will be honored at halftime of the Lynx game on August 8 at Target Center.
