(Champlin, MN) – A young mother from the Twin Cities has admitted her guilt in the death of her 18-month-old child. 24-year-old Maige Yang entered a guilty plea to a charge of intentional second-degree murder for killing her young child and then attempting suicide. This incident happened in January in Champlin. According to the criminal complaint, police responded to find the child not breathing at Yang’s home. Documents say Yang had lost custody of the child to the father, and she admitted to putting a significant amount of sleeping medication into her daughter’s bottle. Yang faces a sentence of up to 35 years in prison.

(St. Cloud, MN) – A St. Cloud man has been found guilty in a shooting that severely injured another man in 2024. After a four-day trial, a Stearns County jury found 28-year-old Lara Tetyang Puok guilty of first-degree assault with a gun causing great bodily harm. Puok was charged with shooting another man outside an apartment building following an argument. The victim suffered a spinal cord injury that affected the use of his legs. Puok will be sentenced on August 6th.

(Little Falls, MN) — A Minnesota State Patrol trooper who admitted to groping a fellow trooper during training at Camp Ripley has been sentenced to two years of probation. Jacob Christopherson entered a Norgaard plea in the case, acknowledging his guilt while claiming he could not remember the incident because he was intoxicated. The assault occurred during training in August 2025. Christopherson remains on leave from the State Patrol while an internal investigation continues.

(Rochester, MN) — A Rochester man is facing felony terroristic threats charges after allegedly threatening to kill employees at his apartment complex and himself. Court documents say 39-year-old Michael Larsen made the threats during an incident last week. Authorities later obtained a warrant for his arrest, and Larsen was taken into custody without incident.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Thousands of athletes, coaches, and supporters have arrived in Minnesota for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Events will take place at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and the National Sports Center in Blaine. Sports include basketball, gymnastics, competitive cheer, track and field, and more. Competition begins Sunday ahead of Saturday night’s opening ceremony at Huntington Bank Stadium. Most events are free and open to the public. The Games run through June 26.
