>>Hopkins Police Search for Missing 16-Year-Old Boy

(Hopkins, MN) — Hopkins police are searching for a missing 16-year-old. Patrick Keen Junior was last seen on Saturday in south Minneapolis. He’s described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 100 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Keene was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, a plaid jacket, blue shorts, and gray shoes.

 

>>Holdingford Man Pleads Guilty in Fatal OD Death

(Stearns County, MN) — A Stearns County man pleaded guilty today to third-degree murder for the fatal overdose of a man last year. The criminal complaint says 32-year-old Cody Johannes of Holdingford sold the victim methamphetamine and fentanyl on November 17th, 2024. The victim’s body was found two days later during a St. Cloud police welfare check, called in by his brother. An autopsy showed the man died of drug toxicity from fentanyl, xylazine, and meth. Texts were found in the victim’s phone between the victim and Johannes, one conversation specifically discussing the drug deal on the morning of the victim’s death. Johannes will be sentenced in September.

(Washington, D.C.) – Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar will join several Democratic governors this afternoon to address the food assistance crisis in this country. Klobuchar says the purpose of the news conference is to show how the Trump Administration’s budget bill will take food assistance away from millions of Americans, including seniors, children, and veterans. Klobuchar says she intends to show how this will hurt state budgets as well, as states try to make up the difference in funding.

The state received high marks in a number of categories, including parks and recreation, costs, and our gas prices. There’s always something to do in Minnesota, no matter where you are in the state.” Minnesota beat out recent favorites on the list, including Florida and California. This year, New York and Ohio were second and third.

 

>>Duluth Brown Bear Gets World’s 1st Metal Crown

(Duluth, MN) — Tundra, a brown bear at Duluth’s Lake Superior Zoo, is the world’s first bear to receive a full metal crown on its tooth. The zoo posted to social media that Tundra fractured his tooth in 2023, got a successful root canal, and then reinjured the area. This led to the bear getting a custom-made silver crown from a partnership between the zoo, Minnesota Veterinary Dental Specialists, Creature Crowns, and iM3.

 

>>Como Zoo Extends Hours for Corpse Flower Bloom

(St. Paul, MN) — Como Zoo is extending its hours to 9 p.m. tonight for a rare, foul-smelling Corpse Flower bloom. Como’s website says Fredrick, the brother of Horace, who bloomed last year, was supposed to open last night, but he’s dragging his feet. It’s believed that overnight lightning may have played a role in delaying or preventing a full bloom. Taking place in the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory’s Palm Dome, a livestream is also available on Como’s YouTube channel for those who can’t come in person.
