(Undated) – A fatal accident involving a pickup truck and motorcycle happened Thursday night in Douglas County. The Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred at the intersection of County Road 45 and Latoka Drive Southwest in Alexandria. Police say the motorcycle driver was found with severe life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. His name is not being released at this time. The driver of the pickup is 16 years old. The investigation continues.
>>Minneapolis Police Investigating Overnight Homicide
(Minneapolis) – The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating an overnight homicide on the 2500 block of Clinton Avenue South. Police responded to multiple reports of gunfire and found a man suffering from several gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene. Police say ten minutes following this shooting, another man walked into Fairview Hospital and said he had been shot in south Minneapolis. Both shootings are still under investigation.
>>Another Lawmaker Added to OIG Advisory Commission
(St. Paul, MN) – Another Minnesota state lawmaker has been appointed to the Legislative Inspector General Advisory Commission. Republican Senator Mark Koran of North Branch has been added along with DFL Senator Heather Gustafson of Vadnais Heights. The commission will make recommendations to the governor on the appointment of the inspector general and conduct hearings to review the office’s work. It will consist of two senators and two House members from each caucus. The OIG bill passed the legislature this past session and is an independent watchdog investigating and examining cases of fraud in the state.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Attorney General’s Office is laying off seven employees, including three attorneys, as part of a restructuring plan aimed at addressing rising operating costs. Officials say the changes are intended to improve efficiency and will not affect the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit or any ongoing litigation.
>>Fundraiser Underway for St. Peter Officer Shot During Standoff
(St. Peter, MN) — A fundraiser is underway to support the family of a St. Peter police officer who was seriously wounded during a standoff last week. Law Enforcement Labor Services is now accepting donations for Officer Austin Buss and his family. Buss was shot on June 18th after Mankato police attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Highway 169. Authorities say the driver, 21-year-old Jordan Donahue, ran into a St. Peter townhome, barricaded himself inside and opened fire with a shotgun, striking Buss. Donahue was later found dead inside the home from a gunshot wound. Officer Buss remains in recovery.

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting in Hastings on Tuesday, July 14th to discuss the reconstruction project on Highway 61. The construction will be from just north of 3rd Street to just south of 36th Street. The construction project will include adding roundabouts and stop lights. The public meeting is scheduled for Hastings High School at 5:30 p.m. on July 14th. The project will last from 2027-2029.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Special Olympics USA Games end today (Friday) in the Twin Cities. While most events have wrapped up, medals are still on the line in track and field, basketball, swimming, and tennis. The closing ceremony is scheduled for tonight at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, ending a week of competition that began last Sunday and featured thousands of athletes from across the country.
