(Washington, DC) — Federal prosecutors will not seek the death penalty against Vance Boelter (belter), the man accused of killing former Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband. A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Justice says capital punishment is off the table, even if Boelter pleads guilty to the state and federal charges he faces. Boelter is accused of fatally shooting the Hortman’s and critically wounding State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, in June 2025. Federal charges also allege he attempted to shoot the Hoffmans’ daughter, Hope. Boelter faces multiple counts, including murder and stalking. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 16th for a motions hearing.

(St. Paul, MN) – Nearly 40 Minnesota DFL state legislators have signed a joint statement condemning the use of AI-generated deepfakes in political advertising and reaffirming their commitment to honest, transparent elections. In 2023, Minnesota lawmakers voted to ban the use of these deceptive AI deepfakes in elections saying the content threatens to manipulate voters and public trust. This issue of using AI-generated deepfakes has been accused in the U.S. Senate race between Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan and Congresswoman Angie Craig.
>>Duluth Man Pleads Guilty to Killing His Mother
(Duluth, MN) — A Duluth man has pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder in the shooting death of his mother last summer. Forty-seven-year-old Nathan Davin entered the plea Monday in St. Louis County District Court. Authorities say officers responding to a home on August 16, 2025, found Davin with blood on his hands and his mother dead from a gunshot wound to the face. Investigators say Davin later admitted to the killing while alone in an interview room. Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for July 16th.

(Undated) – Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig is pushing new legislation aimed at holding the U.S. Postal Service accountable for delivery delays. Craig says Minnesota has ranked in the bottom ten nationwide for on-time mail for three straight quarters, calling the performance “beyond acceptable.” Her bill would require USPS to notify customers when routes are undelivered or only partially completed, broken down by zip code. Craig says delays have serious consequences, especially for people relying on prescription deliveries, calling it a potential matter of life and death. Companion legislation has also been introduced in the U.S. Senate with bipartisan support.

(St. Louis Park, MN) – Minnesota drivers have enjoyed two straight weeks of falling prices at the gas pump. According to AAA (Triple A), the average price for a gallon of unleaded has dropped to $3.97 a gallon. That’s 16 cents lower than last week and 22 cents cheaper than a month ago. AAA says there will still be uncertainty with our gas prices until the Strait of Hormuz fully reopens and traffic resumes.
