(Wyoming, MN) — Wyoming, Minnesota police ask for the public’s help finding a missing man. 39-year-old Jeffery Layeux was last seen walking south on Goodview Ave in Wyoming around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. He’s described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 210 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. Jeffery was last seen wearing a camo-print jacket, jeans, and an orange cap. He is considered a vulnerable adult, and his family says it’s not normal for him to not return home at night.

(Hallock, MN) — A Kennedy woman has been charged with second- and third-degree murder for fatally shooting a man in Hallock Thursday. 23-year-old Jordan Hanson was arrested at her mother’s Kennedy home today (FRI) after Kittson County deputies found the victim’s body yesterday inside his home. A handgun was recovered from the home. Hanson and the victim were known to each other.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Duluth felon will spend 13.9 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. On February 19th, 2024, authorities searched 34-year-old Diaunte Shields’ apartment. Inside officers found over a kilogram of fentanyl, a pound of meth, and hundreds of grams of cocaine. They also turned up a gun, a loaded magazine, drug-cutting agents, and packing materials. Another kilogram of cocaine was found in his FedEx box. Shields had over $33,000 in cash on his person. He pleaded guilty to possession charges on August 22nd.

(St. Louis Park, MN) – Bipartisan twin proposals are looking to reform the state’s DWI policies after the Park Tavern crash last year that killed two and injured nine. Driver 56-year-old Steven Bailey had a BAC four times over the legal limit and five previous DWI convictions. Park Tavern owner Phil Webber says no one in the restaurant/bar industry wants these people on the road. He adds, “The state should have never allowed a license to be placed in this person’s hand again; insurance companies never should have insured him. This guy should have been absolutely out of any consideration for driving ever again.” The bills, authored by Representative Larry Kraft (D-St. Louis Park) and Senator Ron Latz (D-St. Louis Park), recommend utilizing interlock ignition for longer periods.

(Minneapolis, MN) – Golden Gopher athletic director Mark Coyle met virtually with reporters this afternoon to discuss the firing of head coach Ben Johnson. Coyle says he felt the time to change leadership was necessary after Johnson failed to make the NCAA Tournament in any of his four years on the job. He says, “It’s been frustrating, quite honestly, that we have not had more success in basketball.” Coyle says the search is well underway to find a new coach and they would like to have someone in place as soon as possible.

(St. Paul, MN) – A new report from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) finds only 39% of state public schools tested for radon. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in America. Besides lack of funding, Indoor Air Unit Supervisor Dan Tranter says the reasons schools don’t test for radon are “school turnover, lack of dedicated health and safety staff, and unawareness.” Tranter says MDH offers training, technical assistance, and reduced-cost testing kits to make radon testing easier for schools.
