>>Man Arrested for Fatal Stabbing at Mankato Kwik Trip

(Mankato, MN) — A 28-year-old man is in custody following a fatal stabbing at a Mankato Kwik Trip this morning. Police responded to the station around 3 a.m. and found an unresponsive employee on the floor with a knife wound. The victim was brought to Mayo Clinic and pronounced dead. Surveillance footage helped identify the suspect, who was later arrested at his home without incident. Authorities say more information will be released later.

 

>>4 Teens Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Champlin Park Student 

(Ramsey, MN) — Four juveniles are jailed in Anoka County in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Diamond Eddie Manly of Brooklyn Park. Sheriff’s deputies say they arrested two 17-year-old boys from Shoreview and Ramsey, a 16-year-old from Shoreview, and a 15-year-old from Coon Rapids. Manly was found dead of a gunshot wound inside a vehicle on March 2nd in Ramsey. He was a senior at Champlin Park High School. Authorities say the suspects haven’t all been charged and the juveniles are not being identified. 

 

>>Calls to Resign, Republican Sen. Eichorn Accused of Trying to Solicit a Minor

(Bloomington, MN) — Legislators are demanding a Republican state senator to resign after his arrest for attempting to solicit sex from a minor. Bloomington Police say detectives spoke to 40-year-old Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids, who thought he was talking to a 16-year-old girl. Authorities arranged to meet Eichorn on Monday and arrested him without incident. Felony charges are pending for soliciting a person under 18 years old to practice prostitution. Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy (D-St. Paul) says the allegation is “deeply disturbing and raises serious questions that will need to be answered by the court, as well as his caucus and constituents.” Senate Republicans say they are shocked by the reports, adding Eichorn has “a difficult road ahead and needs to focus on his family.”

 

>>Brooklyn Park Felon Pleads Guilty to Fentanyl Trafficking Death

(St. Paul, MN) — A Brooklyn Park felon has pleaded guilty to fentanyl trafficking that resulted in death. Court documents say on July 25th, 2023, 50-year-old Allen Goodwin sold a mixture of fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl to a 38-year-old man who lived on the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation. The victim injected the mixture the next morning and died minutes later. Goodwin pleaded guilty to one count of distribution resulting in death. His sentencing will be scheduled later. 

 

>>Fravel Appeals Conviction for Kingsbury Murder

(St. Paul, MN) — Adam Fravel, the man found guilty of two counts each of first- and second-degree murder in Madeline Kingsbury of Winona’s murder, is filing an appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Fravel was convicted in November and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Kingsbury, Fravel’s ex-girlfriend and mother to their two children, went missing in March 2023, and her body was found a few months later. 

 

>>Suspects Who Killed St. Paul Hmong Comedian Sentenced

(St. Paul, MN) — The family of Tou Ger Xiong, a Hmong American St. Paul comedian killed on vacation, says four people have been sentenced for his murder. Xiong was killed in 2023 in Medellin, Colombia. Four people were arrested who said they kidnapped Xiong for extortion and then killed him. The suspects face 29 years in prison. Xiong’s family says they’re “relieved that justice has been served,” but there will “always be a deep void in our hearts.”

 

>>Litchfield Man Adds 3rd Violent Felony to Accusations

(Meeker County, MN) — A Litchfield man now faces a third charge of committing a violent felony within a year in Meeker County. 26-year-old Tre Ertl is accused of attempted second-degree murder and more for helping attack a man with an axe and baseball bat during a robbery in Litchfield in March 2024; attempted second-degree murder and more for beating and stabbing an Olivia man while trying to rob him near Litchfield in June 2024; and now third-degree assault for beating a fellow inmate while in Meeker County Jail on February 19th. Ertl is jailed on $4 million unconditional bail. Prosecutors ask if and when Ertl is convicted his sentences will be served consecutively. 

 

>>Longtime Anoka Police Chief Peterson Retiring on Friday 

(Anoka, MN) — Anoka Police Chief Eric Peterson is retiring on Friday after 36 years with the department. Chief Peterson started his career with the Anoka Police Explorers Program at age 16, was hired as an officer in 1992, and was named the 33rd Anoka police chief in 2016. Chief Peterson swore in Captain Andy Youngquist on Monday, and he will officially become the next chief on Saturday.
