>>Senator Eichorn Resigns

(St. Paul, MN) — Following the resignation of former Republican Senator Justin Eichorn, Senate leaders were asked about the felony burglary charges against Democratic Senator Nicole Mitchell. Democratic Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy said, “The situation with Senator Mitchell is night and day compared to Eichorn’s predatory behavior, which puts people at risk.”

Republican Minority Leader Mark Johnson has pushed for Mitchell’s resignation, but today, he stated, “This is about Senator Eichorn right now. We will address other issues later.” A Senate ethics panel recently deadlocked on the Mitchell case and will revisit it later, while Mitchell has delayed her trial until after the session. Governor Walz will now decide when a special election to fill Eichorn’s seat will be.

>>Bail Set at $4 Million for Mankato Kwik Trip Murder Suspect

(Mankato, MN) — Bail was set at four million dollars today for the man accused of murdering an employee of a Kwik Trip store in Mankato. According to the criminal complaint filed against  28-year-old Michael Lee Miller, Mankato police officers responded around 3 AM Tuesday to a disturbance at the business. The caller indicated a person was inside the store breaking stuff before the 911 call was disconnected, and the witness fled from the convenience store. Once officers arrived at the scene, the court document says officers found 34-year-old Dennis Vosika unresponsive on the floor behind the counter, surrounded by a large pool of blood. The officers stated that they observed apparent knife wounds on the victim’s head, back, and leg. Vosika was transported to a local emergency room, where he was pronounced dead. The criminal complaint says preliminary autopsy results noted that he had suffered 43 sharp force injuries.

(Chisago County, MN) — A four-year-old child involved in a crash west of Rush City last Friday died today. Chisago County prosecutors say 36-year-old Ashlee Klapperick of Mora was high on meth when she crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an SUV. The county attorney has been made aware of the boy’s death, and additional charges could be filed against Klapperick.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison sues the Trump administration for delaying green project funds. He is joined by the attorneys general of California, Illinois, and Maine as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. The suit seeks a preliminary injunction to compel the EPA and Citibank to release the funds. Ellison claims that he and the other plaintiffs oppose what they see as another illegal power grab by the Trump administration.

(St. Paul, MN) — Spring is here, and the shipping season is now open on the Upper Mississippi River. Patrick Moes with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers says the Motor Vessel Neil N. Diehl was traveling up the river during yesterday’s snowstorm in southeastern Minnesota. The first tow arrived on March 17th last year.

>>3M Open Will Remain In Twin Cities Through 2030

(Blaine, MN) — The 3M Open golf tournament will continue to take place in the Twin Cities until 2030. Earlier this week, 3M and the PGA Tour extended their partnership agreement. Since 2019, the event has been held at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine. The tournament is scheduled for July 21st through July 27th, and the official field will be announced later this year.
