(St. Paul, MN) – Governor Tim Walz has issued a writ of special election to fill the current vacancy in Senate District 6 in Cass, Crow Wing, and Itasca Counties. Former Republican Senator Justin Eichorn vacated this seat following his resignation last week. Eichorn is facing federal charges following his arrest in a prostitution sting in Bloomington. The special election will be held on Tuesday, April 29th, just under three weeks before the end of the session. This will be the third special election of this legislative session.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota lawmakers are trying to boost the number of police officers around the state. Right now, there are about one thousand openings, which could grow to more than three thousand in five years due to retirements. Republican Senator Zach Duckworth of Lakeville says the scholarship would be open to law enforcement families. The bill has bipartisan support, but the author, DFL Representative Dan Wolgamott of St. Cloud, says the money may need to come from the higher education budget.

(St. Paul, MN) — Any homeowner benefit agreements (HBAs) with MV Realty in Minnesota are null and void after the company recently settled with Attorney General Keith Ellison. Stemming from a September 2024 lawsuit, the Florida-based business was accused of hiding oppressive terms in their HBAs that deceived homeowners into signing with them. MV Realty is also not allowed to operate in the state and must pay $10,000 in restitution, and each of its main officers, Anthony Mitchell, David Manchester, and Amanda Zachman, must not engage in residential real estate in Minnesota for five years.

>>Juvenile Linked to Moorhead Armed Robbery

(Fargo, ND) — A juvenile was arrested in the Village Green neighborhood of south Moorhead after an armed robbery in Fargo. Fargo Police Captain Bill Ahlfeldt says the robbery occurred in a parking lot shortly after 6 p.m. Monday. The victim was struck with the handle of a gun before the thief stole a large amount of money from him. No shots were fired. Ahlfeldt says video footage provided by businesses led officers to Moorhead, where the juvenile was located. A report was sent to juvenile court, where the suspect may be charged with armed robbery and terrorizing.

>>Minneapolis Woman Charged with Crashing USP Truck Meth DUI

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Minneapolis woman is charged with drug possession and DUI after allegedly crashing a U.S. Postal truck while on methamphetamine. 36-year-old Katie Partridge was charged Monday. New Brighton Police responded to the crash around 11 a.m. Friday, a USP truck had hit another car. A post office manager told police Partridge was the driver and that she should be checked for drugs. Patridge was arrested, and a gram of white powdery substance found in her lunchbox tested positive for meth.

>>2 Arrested in Drug Bust Traffic Stop

(Randall, MN) — Two people are in custody on first-degree drug possession suspicions after a traffic stop in Morrison County. Deputies made the stop around 7:30 p.m. Monday in Randall. After noticing equipment violations and drug activity indicators, a K9 was deployed. 92 grams of suspected methamphetamine and several oxycodone pills were found in the vehicle.

The suspects are 39-year-old Jennifer Weber and 41-year-old John Moore Jr. from LeSeur.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Niko (NEE-koh) Medved says it will be meaningful when he returns to Williams Arena. The 51-year-old Roseville native and U of M grad grew up going to games there, was a student manager for the team in the 1990s, and is now the head coach of the Golden Gophers. Medved signed a six-year contract with the “U.” He took the Minnesota job after a seven-year run at Colorado State, where he took the Rams to three N-C-A-A Tournaments in the past four seasons. His first day on the job is today.
