>>17-Year-Old Columbia Heights Teen is Missing

(Columbia Heights, MN) – Columbia Heights police are searching for a 17-year-old who went missing today. Tavian Williams is described as Black, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and black eyes. He does not have a vehicle or cell phone and has no similar history of going missing. 

 

>>St. Paul Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Teen in Burnsville

(Burnsville, MN) – A St. Paul man is facing a murder charge in the fatal shooting of a teenage boy at a Burnsville apartment complex. Dakota County prosecutors say 19‑year‑old Da’Carri Hood is charged with second‑degree intentional murder in the death of 14‑year‑old Charles Darnell Moore. Police were called around 10:30 p.m. on February 9th to reports of gunshots. Officers found Moore in a hallway with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital. Witnesses reported seeing Hood armed inside the building, and police say Hood was later seen leaving with a gun, claiming he shot Moore because he believed Moore had a weapon. A warrant was issued on February 26th, and Hood was arrested on March 27th. A bail hearing is scheduled for April 9th.

 

>>DOJ Sues MN Over Transgender Athlete Policy

(Washington, D.C.) – Transgender girls could be banned from playing in girls’ sports in Minnesota. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is suing the state and its High School League (MNHSL), claiming they’re violating Title IX, a federal law against sex discrimination in educational programs. Attorney General Pam Bondi says, “The Trump Administration does not tolerate flawed state policies that ignore biological reality and unfairly undermine girls on the playing field.” The MN HSL did not follow an executive order from President Donald Trump in February that banned transgender girls and women from participating in sports teams that match their gender identity. The lawsuit also threatens federal funding to Minnesota’s Department of Education, saying it’s “contingent on Title IX compliance.” The MN HSL and Attorney General Keith Ellison have yet to comment.

 

>>Fargo-Moorhead No Kings Rally Garners Hundreds of People

(Fargo, ND) – Hundreds of people turned out for the No Kings protest in Fargo on Saturday. Participants held signs and chanted about the war in Iran, federal immigration raids, and inflation of gas and groceries. Warren Retzlaff, a participant, says people must stray away from voting solely Republican or Democrat and make decisions based on issues that matter to them. Fargo Mayoral Candidate Josh Boschee showed up, saying, “People want their elected representatives to stand up for them, and especially our current representatives. They can agree with the president most of the time, but people want them to stand up and be independent for North Dakota, too.” This rally was held for both Fargo, ND, and Moorhead, MN. It was part of the third No Kings nationwide. The flagship protest was in St. Paul, where over 200,000 people rallied.

 

>>Minnesota’s First Off-Road Vehicle Campground Opens This Summer

(Soudan, MN) – Minnesota’s first state-park campground designed specifically for off-road vehicle enthusiasts opens this summer. Pyrite Campground will welcome visitors beginning June 12th at Lake Vermilion–Soudan Underground Mine State Park. The campground features 23 electric sites, designed to accommodate campers hauling trailers loaded with ATVs and other off-road vehicles. Amenities include showers and an ATV wash station to prevent the spread of invasive species.

 

>>Minnesota DNR Confirms Three Chicks in EagleCam Nest

(Undated) – The Minnesota DNR is confirming there are now three bald eagle chicks in the nest near the EagleCam. Officials say bald eagles lay a maximum of three eggs per clutch, so additional chicks are not expected this spring. Researchers thanked the many EagleCam viewers for helping spot the three eagles in the nest. They think the chicks are about four days old. 

 

>>Timberwolves McDaniels Listed as Week-to-Week with Knee Injury  

(Minneapolis, MN) – The Minnesota Timberwolves could be without forward Jaden McDaniels for the last eight games of the regular season. The team says an MRI conducted today on McDaniels revealed a left knee patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise. He hurt his knee in the Wolves’ comeback victory over the Rockets last week. McDaniels is listed as week-to-week.  Minnesota is currently in fifth place in the Western Conference and will likely make the playoffs next month. The Wolves play tonight in Dallas.
