>>Senate Passes Omnibus Energy Bill
(St. Paul, MN) — The Senate passed the Omnibus Energy bill with little Republican support. Republicans like Senator Andrew Mathews of Princeton tried to pass several amendments that would have moved Minnesota closer to clean energy by 2040. Mathews says
“This bill is a giant swing and a miss. It turned from a bipartisan bill to a hyper-partisan bill.”
But those amendments failed, and Democrats pushed through the energy bill. DFL Senator Nick Frentz of North Mankato says, “We’re telling Minnesotans we’re going to lower their electric costs. The provisions in the bill that sunset the community solar garden program will do that. That alone would earn my yes vote on the bill.” The bill now goes to committee for final details.
