>>Missing Roseville Child Found

(Roseville, MN) – The Roseville Police Department has announced that a missing six-year-old child has been located.  Police originally put out a call for the public’s help after six-year-old Kamryn Simmons was reported missing from the 900 block of Sherren Street. Police officers searched the home and yard several times, also searched door-to-door on foot, and used drones and search-and-rescue staff and canines. The boy was first reported missing after 7:30 this morning. Roseville Police sent an update that the child was located and safe just after 2:30 this afternoon.

 

>>Two Men Charged in Shooting Outside Rochester Restaurant

(Rochester, MN) — Two men are facing charges after a shooting outside a Rochester restaurant left two women injured. Authorities say the gunfire erupted Sunday in the parking lot of Rooster’s Barn and Grill. Police say 24-year-old Luke Giwa is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, while 21-year-old Cabdulqaadir Ciise faces a charge of fleeing police in a motor vehicle. Investigators say two women suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. The case remains under investigation.

 

>>Federal Contractor Sentenced in Prostitution Sting

(Bloomington, MN) — A St. Michael man who worked as a federal contractor tied to Homeland Security and ICE has been sentenced after pleading guilty in a Bloomington prostitution sting.  Thirty-six-year-old Brashad Johnson admitted to attempting to hire a woman for sex during an undercover operation in February. Police say Johnson responded to an online ad, agreed to pay 100 dollars for sex, and was arrested after arriving at a Bloomington hotel. Johnson was sentenced to one year of probation and fined 15-hundred dollars.

 

 

>>Homeless Man Charged for Having Child Sexual Abuse Material

(St. Cloud, MN) – A homeless man from St. Cloud has pleaded guilty and was immediately sentenced for having child sexual abuse material. A Stearns County judge sentenced 45-year-old Matthew Monson to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing child sexual abuse material while being a registered predatory offender. Nine other counts were dismissed at the settlement conference and sentencing. Monson also pleaded guilty to a different charge for failing to fulfill registration requirements as a predatory offender. His sentence on that charge will be served at the same time as his child pornography sentence. Court records show Monson’s criminal history includes two convictions for criminal sexual conduct in both Stearns County and Roberts County, South Dakota.

 

 

>>Center City Man Charged with Multiple Tax Crimes

(St. Paul, MN) – A Center City man has been charged with a total of 15 felony counts for not filing his tax returns. The Minnesota Department of Revenue says Travis John Burgess failed to file his individual tax returns and pay the taxes, and he did not file taxes for his business. The department says he did not file returns for his business, Construction Aria, despite earning enough taxable income. The Chisago County Attorney’s Office says Burgess owes more than $71,000 in income tax, penalties and fines covering the tax years of 2019-2023. Each tax-related felony charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.

 

>>Canterbury Officials Remain Optimistic Despite No Action by State Lawmakers

(Shakopee, MN) – A good weekend of horse racing at Canterbury Park in Shakopee is keeping track officials optimistic for the season ahead. Canterbury attracted 21,800 fans and secured a betting handle of $2,966,567 for the three days of the Memorial Day Weekend. This comes after another legislative session where state lawmakers could not increase revenue by passing a sports betting bill. Canterbury Park’s Jeff Maday said, “This is an important season just because of what went on at the legislature. There were some high hopes that something would get done and nothing did this session. But I can tell you this. The people that are here, the trainers, and the jockeys and owners that I’ve spoken with they’re optimistic.” Canterbury’s racing season lasts until September 19.
