(St. Paul, MN) — Dozens of protesters gathered outside Governor Tim Walz’s office, protesting the budget agreement that will eliminate health care for undocumented adults. Erika Zurawski (zu-raw-skee) is with the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee and says this decision will cost Minnesotans their lives. She says, “Governor Walz and the DFL leadership, the Democrats who refuse to vote to keep health care, are literally voting for people to die.” Zurawski is hoping today’s protest will urge Democrats to reconsider their position on health care for undocumented workers. If the budget agreement passes, only children of undocumented families would be protected.

The fire has spread to over 16,000 acres and is believed to be human-caused. The Camp House Fire remains at 90% contained, where it has sat for a few days now. Priority is being given to locations where repair activities can help protect wild rice lakes. The cause of the over 12,000-acre fire in Brimson is under investigation. Crews remind Minnesotans to remain vigilant as warmer temperatures, lower humidity, and increasing winds still pose a threat.

(Fargo, ND) — Fargo Police have released the name of a man who was found dead near the Red River Sunday in Oak Grove Park. He was Aaron Hadley, 28, with no permanent address. Criminal Investigations Sergeant Paul Simonson says the department is working with the Cass County Coroner’s Office and Medical Examiner to determine Hadley’s cause of death. Police have not released any additional information or said whether the death is considered suspicious.

(Rochester, MN) — A Rochester teen accused of shooting a 17-year-old girl in the face is expected to appear in court on July 9th. Jayden Scott has been charged with assault, terroristic threats, and carrying a weapon in a public place. Police say the 18-year-old defendant shot the victim on Saturday at Silver Lake Park. The girl survived the shooting. Scott is free on bail with conditions that include no assault or threatening behavior.

(Bovey, MN) — A Grand Rapids man is behind bars for torturing more than 90 goats in rural Bovey. 42-year-old Jacob Langeslag has been charged with 14 counts of felony animal torture. He is also accused of mistreating goats and dumping their carcasses. Langeslang contends that an illness prevented him from taking care of the animals.

(Isabella, MN) — A man from Hoyt Lakes is the victim of the deadly motorcycle crash on Memorial Day near Isabella in northeastern Minnesota. The State Patrol says a cycle driven by 34-year-old Derek Church left Highway 1 and crashed into the ditch around 2 pm Monday. Church died at the scene. The report states that he was wearing a helmet and that the roadway was dry at the time.

(St. Cloud, MN) — A central Minnesota police department has added two new officers as part of a new initiative aimed at better serving its community in times of need. The St. Cloud Police Department (SCPD) has added two therapy dogs to help those experiencing a mental health crisis. River and Laker are both fully certified to work with officers on calls for service and community engagement events.

(Sun Prairie, WI) — Twenty-one Minnesota schools have received a grant to support agricultural education. Compeer Financial awarded $4,000 grants as part of its Agriculture Education and Classroom Equipment Grant Program. In total, Compeer Financial is awarding over $235,000 in grants to 65 schools in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
