(Brooklyn Park, MN) — Police in Brooklyn Park do not believe foul play was involved after a body was found in the Mississippi River on Thursday afternoon. The body was found near the Coon Rapids Dam. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release more information in the coming days.

(Moorhead, MN) — A missing Moorhead man has been found dead in Summit County, Colorado. Police reported 51-year-old Leroy Schmidt missing on January 7th, but he hadn’t been seen or heard from since November 2nd, 2024. His body was located in a partially frozen Dillon Reservoir near the Frisco disc golf course on Wednesday evening. No information regarding the circumstances of his death has been released.

(St. Paul, MN) — St. Paul police are investigating a death. Officers responded to North Frogtown around 11 this morning (FRI). This comes after multiple fatal shootings in Minneapolis this week. No other information is available.

 

>>Mora Dog Kennel Owner Charged with 16 Counts of Animal Abuse

(Mora, MN) — A Mora dog kennel owner faces 16 animal cruelty charges after nine dogs were found on her property. Kanabec County deputies say 30-year-old Moriah Krondak operated and owned Done Right Dogs out of her home. An investigation began after a complaint from a family who boarded two dogs, one of which was dead when the family returned from vacation. On April 8th, deputies and the Animal Humane Society did a welfare check, finding several kennels across the home covered in dog urine and feces, with no access to food or water. Of the 18 dogs removed from the home, nine were dead. Krondak will appear in court on Thursday.

(Woodbury, MN) — The woman who died in a Woodbury house fire on Thursday morning has been identified as award-winning singer and human rights activist Jill Sobule. 66-year-old Sobule was best known for her 1995 single “I Kissed a Girl,” one of the first queer songs to break the Billboard Top 20. The investigation into the fire’s cause continues.

 

>>Rochester Woman Raises Money After Calling Child N-Word

(Rochester, MN) — A Rochester woman who called a child a racial slur in a now-viral TikTok video has raised over $330,000 for herself in online fundraising. Identified on the site as “Shiloh Hendrix,” the woman says she “fears she must relocate” after “calling out a kid for what he was.” The video shows Hendrix calling a child the n-word, repeating the slur multiple times. Most of her donors’ comments justify what she said in the video. The NAACP Rochester branch has launched its own fundraising in retaliation to help pay for legal support for the child and family that were targeted. The NAACP has raised over $25,000 so far. It’s believed the child involved is autistic. Rochester police are investigating the incident.

 

>>Massive Drug Bust in Winona Man’s Home

(Winona, MN) — A Winona man faces multiple charges after a massive drug bust on Wednesday. Around 11 a.m., authorities executed a search warrant on 38-year-old Justin Dionysius’s home as part of an ongoing investigation into drug activity. Seized during the warrant were 6.68 pounds of methamphetamine, 75.5 grams of cocaine, 23 grams of amphetamine, 47 doses of Suboxone, 176 fentanyl pills, 9.6 grams of heroin, 2.5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 70 prescription pills, 10 handguns, over 200 rounds of ammunition, 2 ounces of gold, collectible coins, and Rolex watches. Dionysius was arrested and is in Winona County Jail.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is a finalist for this year’s Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award goes to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. Fleury just finished his 21st season and plans to retire after 1,051 career games. The trophy is named after Bill Masterton, who suffered a hit to the head while playing for the Minnesota North Stars in 1968 and died in the hospital.
