(Brooklyn Center, MN) – Brooklyn Center police are searching for a missing woman. Corrin Lone, 32, was last seen leaving her home on foot in an unknown direction. She is described as white, five feet seven inches tall, 220 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Lone was last seen wearing a red hoodie and pink Crocs. Family believes she may be heading to St. Paul.

Police and fire crews responded around 6:12 a.m. Both people were removed from the home and brought to separate hospitals. Their conditions and the cause of the fire are unknown. The State Fire Marshal is investigating.

(Clinton Township, MN) – Several vehicles caught fire this morning in St. Louis County. Deputies say a car at Holmes Recycling Services in Clinton Township was being compacted when it exploded. Investigators say this was likely due to a battery inside the vehicle. Multiple local fire departments responded and contained the blaze. No injuries were reported. The case remains active and open.

(Minneapolis, MN) – For the first time in Minnesota, the pathogen for sudden oak death has been detected. The disease has devastated West Coast forests for decades and has no cure. The pathogen was found in a plant at a Hennepin County nursery in July and confirmed by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. The plant was destroyed, and tests show no further spread. University of Minnesota officials say they will continue statewide monitoring and that early detection is key to preventing widespread damage.

With a special tribute marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two, Minnesota National Guard Brigadier General Simon Schaefer said, “Those who stood the watch before us paved the path for all who serve today.” Governor Tim Walz noted the ostracization those who served in the Vietnam War faced and how “this group came home to a country that couldn’t separate the warrior from the war.” He says instead of becoming bitter about the lack of healthcare and honor, these veterans transformed how the U.S. views veteran healthcare and talks about veteran issues.

 

>>Minneapolis City Council Member Osman Carjacked

(Minneapolis, MN) – Minneapolis City Council Member Jamal Osman says he was carjacked Monday night on the city’s south side, just a week after winning reelection for Ward 6. Osman says police responded quickly, and he thanked Chief Brian O’Hara and Mayor Jacob Frey for checking on him. Investigators say the suspects are minors linked to another carjacking earlier that evening. City data shows carjackings are down overall this year, but 152 have been reported citywide.

 

>>Ada Woman Arrested for DWI After Crash on I-94

(Fergus Falls, MN) – A northwest Minnesota woman was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing her SUV with two young children inside on Sunday. Otter Tail County prosecutors say 40-year-old Ashley Heitman of Ada showed signs of impairment after officers found her vehicle with heavy front-end damage on I-94. A breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .24. Police also found open alcohol containers in the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Heitman has a prior DWI conviction.

 

>>Judge Rules Elba Woman Incompetent in Shooting Case

(Elba, MN) – A Winona County judge has ruled an Elba woman incompetent to stand trial in an August shooting that seriously injured another woman. 65-year-old Ava Kock was charged with attempted murder and assault after allegedly firing seven shots into a vehicle, hitting the victim in the eye and brain. Investigators say Kock later confessed, citing a biblical reference to the number seven. Court proceedings are on hold, with a review hearing set for January.

 

>>House Lawmakers Ready to Tour Twin Cities Future Bonding Projects

(St. Paul, MN) – State lawmakers with the House Capital Investment Committee will begin their fifth and final tour of the fall, looking at possible future bonding projects. This time, the bipartisan group will visit communities around the Twin Cities. Tomorrow, the first day, stops include the new Cedar Riverside Rec Center and Mill City Museum in Minneapolis, the Northwest Metro Regional Athletic Facility in Brooklyn Park, and the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. These projects will be considered for the 2026 capital investment bill. The tour wraps up on Friday.
