>>Boelter Trial on Hold

(Minneapolis, MN) — The trial of Vance Boelter remains on hold after a federal judge granted defense attorneys additional time today(Wed) to review what they call an overwhelming amount of evidence. Boelter faces federal charges in connection with the June 14th shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses. Prosecutors allege he fatally shot former House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their Brooklyn Park home, and also targeted State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their Champlin residence. The Hoffmans survived the attack. Boelter’s defense attorney told the court that one hard drive contains more than 130,000 pages of documents and 2,000 photographs, while another, still pending, will require over 100 hours to download and review. Boelter has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

>>Opening Weekend Firearms Deer Harvest Strong

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota hunters harvested nearly 82,000 deer statewide during the opening weekend of the firearms season. The pace is expected to surpass 2023 numbers and approach last year’s total of 170,679 deer. So far, 59% of the harvest has been adult males, while 29% are adult females. The remainder includes juvenile deer of both sexes. The firearms season runs through a half-hour past sunset this Sunday, for most of the state.

>>Canterbury Park Announces 51-day Season for 2026 Racing

(Shakopee, MN) – Canterbury Park has submitted a request for a 51-day thoroughbred and quarter horse racing season for 2026. Canterbury would like to open on Saturday, May 23 of next season with a closing scheduled for September 19. This would equal the same number of racing dates as this past season. The purse money for the races is expected to stay the same as in the 2025 season. The Minnesota Racing Commission will now consider this request at its next meeting on November 20.

-ByHeart Whole Nutrition is expanding its recall to all batches of Infant Formula cans and Anywhere Packs nationwide. This comes after 13 cases of infant botulism across 10 states, including one case in Minnesota, have been connected to the infant formula.
-Africa Imports is recalling Organic Moringa Leaf Powder 1-kilogram boxes purchased after June 5th, 2025, due to possible Salmonella contamination.
-Brazilian Taste is recalling over 41-hundred pounds of chicken and beef croquettes due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, sesame. The chicken croquettes were produced from March 4th to August 19th, and the beef on June 2nd.
-Moonlight Companies is recalling yellow and white peaches due to possible Listeria contamination.

>>Fatal Fire Under Investigation in Winona

(Winona, MN) — Authorities are investigating a deadly fire that broke out early this morning at a duplex in Winona. Police say officers arrived around 4:15 a.m. to heavy smoke coming from an upstairs apartment. A first-floor resident told officers someone was inside. The door was barricaded, so firefighters entered through a window and pulled out a 33-year-old man. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The investigation remains open and active.

>>1967 Missing Persons Case Solved, Death Ruled Accidental

(Foley, MN) — 58 years later, Benton County authorities say the mystery surrounding Roy Benn’s disappearance is solved. Benn went missing in September 1967, and his remains were recovered from the Mississippi River in Sartell this year on August 13th. The Midwest Medical Examiner ruled his death accidental, citing a single-vehicle crash with water submersion. No foul play was found, and the case is closed. Officials say the discovery brings closure to one of the region’s oldest missing person cases.

>>Metro Transit Expands Security on Light Rail

(Minneapolis, MN) — Metro Transit is increasing its official presence on the light rail this winter to improve safety and rider experience. Officials say more police officers, community service officers, TRIP (Transit Riders Investment Program) agents, and supplemental security will be visible during peak hours and late-night service. The agency reports serious crime is down 21 percent systemwide, while officer-initiated calls are up 129 percent from last year. Additional security will be stationed at 15 busy boarding locations starting November 30th.
