(Grand Marais, MN) — Authorities say a woman was rescued Sunday evening after getting swept into Lake Superior near the Grand Marais lighthouse. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office says four people were walking out to the lighthouse when one was swept into the water by large waves. Deputies say the woman was pulled from the lake by her friends and a fisherman. She complained of a headache and weakness and was taken to the hospital. Sheriff Pat Eliasen warns that large waves can knock you into the water and strong currents can make it impossible to get to safety.

(Minneapolis) – Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is directing $150,000 of city funding to provide food to Minneapolis food shelves to help feed residents during the government shutdown. The money will come from the Minneapolis Health Department’s Homegrown Minneapolis program and will go out this week to help families who rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. More than 60,000 Minneapolis residents, or about 14 percent of the city’s population, rely on food assistance each month. The city suggests that residents can help their neighbors by donating cash or volunteering their time at local food shelves.

(Minneapolis) – Tomorrow is Election Day, and the City of Minneapolis reports the second-highest early voting totals ever for a municipal election. More than 23,000 city voters have already cast their ballots since the early voting period started on September 19. That total represents nine percent of the city’s registered voters. The only other municipal election with a higher total was in 2021, which included all city elected offices and three ballot questions. Early voting ends today at 5:00 p.m. Polling places will be open tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

There are two one-million-dollar grand prizes and a total of 20 thousand prizes. The Minnesota Lottery added forty 20-thousand-dollar prizes to celebrate the raffle’s 20th anniversary. Tickets went on sale on October 21st and sold out in a record 14 days.

(Minneapolis, MN) – The Minnesota Timberwolves expect guard Anthony Edwards to be back in the starting lineup soon. The Wolves announced today that Edwards has been cleared for contact basketball activities again. Edwards suffered a right hamstring strain in the October 26 game against the Indiana Pacers. The team says he will still be listed as out as he continues making progress with his rehabilitation program. The Wolves are at Brooklyn tonight for a 6 p.m. game against the Nets.
