>>SPPD Releases Body Cam Footage in Arresting Triple Homicide Suspect

(St. Paul, MN) — The St. Paul officer bodycam footage has been released in the shooting of Earl Bennett, the man charged in a triple homicide at a Minneapolis homeless encampment on October 27th, and another shooting the next day. Officers responded to shots fired on October 28th, finding Bennett with a gun. Bennett saw the officers and pointed his gun to his head while walking towards them. Two officers fired less lethal weapons before Bennett turned his gun on police, which prompted four more officers to fire their weapons. Bennett was brought to Regions Hospital. He was found to have shot and critically injured a man earlier that evening. The six officers involved are on critical incident leave. The three victims killed the day before at the encampment were identified as Samantha Moss, 35, Louis Lemons Jr., 32, and Christopher Washington, 38. Bennett is in custody on a $2 million bail.

(Redwood County, MN) — A Redwood Falls woman was possibly injured in a crash caused by statewide dense fog this morning. State Patrol reports the 32-year-old woman drove her Ford Focus north in Redwood County on County Road 6 when she missed an intersection due to thick fog and went into a field. Her condition is unknown.

 

>>Man, Juvenile Injured in Bus vs. Vehicle Crash in Sibley County

(Sibley County, MN) — A man and youth were injured Tuesday in a bus vs. vehicle crash in Sibley County. State Patrol responded to the crash around 4:11 p.m. Investigators learned an eastbound school bus collided with a Mazda Sedan. The Sedan driver, 62-year-old John Thomas of Arlington, and a juvenile were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. 60-year-old bus driver Wendy Kube of Arlington was unharmed.

 

>>Melrose Firefighter Injured While Putting Out Skidloader Fire 

(Melrose, MN) — A Melrose firefighter was injured after helping extinguish a skidloader fire near Melrose on Saturday. Stearns County deputies responded to a report of a skid steer loader on fire around 2:10 p.m. Melrose Fire Department was dispatched and began to put it out. During this, a corn stalk nearby fell and injured 46-year-old Angel Vargas. Vargas was brought to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

 

>>Duluth Police Investigate 2 Similar Home Burglaries

(Duluth, MN) — Duluth Police are investigating two burglaries they believe are related. On Monday, officers responded to a burglary report and another on Tuesday, both incidents between 6 and 8 p.m. Investigators say a white male entered both homes and made threats to the residents inside. Overall, three people were sent to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is open and active. Police ask anyone with information on the suspect or incidents to come forward.

(Undated) – Once again, it appears Minnesota will be one of the top states when it comes to voter turnout in the election. Secretary of State Steve Simon says the state’s turnout will be around 76%—not as high as in 2020 during COVID, but higher than in 2016. Simon says there are several reasons for our success, including good laws to protect voting and strong absentee voting, and it’s simply in our Minnesota nature. He believes it will take a few days to see where we are ranked for this election with the other states.

 

>>Minnesota Coalition Applauds Passage of Lottery Funding Amendment

(Undated) – Only 16% of voters oppose sending 40% of Minnesota Lottery proceeds to the Environment and Natural Resource Trust Fund. Marcus Starr of Minnesotans for Our Great Outdoors says the constitutional amendment extends current funding for the next 25 years—something voters showed was important to them last night in the polls, as they have for the past 25 years. Starr says each year 80 to 90 million dollars in lottery proceeds will go to clean water research, parks and trails investments, and outdoor educational opportunities.

 

>>Salvation Army Kicks Off Red Kettle Karnival in Duluth

(Duluth, MN) – The Salvation Army kicks off its Red Kettle Campaign in Duluth tonight at Bentleyville. The Red Kettle Karnival includes free parking and multiple activities from 5 to 8 p.m. People bringing non-perishable food items or new unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army can go inside the newly renovated 128-foot tree.
