Whether it’s a new child or an elderly parent, these students can now return home to give care and earn credit at the same time. Dr. Kristina Krohn says, “When the rest of life happens, sometimes the only option you have is to stop medical training and work on life and return to it another day. This allows people to continue in medical training while being present in their family lives.” Krohn says this is for third and fourth-year medical students. Minnesota is one of only a few schools in the country to offer this elective course.
