(Haven, MN) — A Big Lake man is dead after a crash in St. Cloud this morning (TUES). State Patrol responded to the crash around 7 a.m. on Highway 10. A westbound car driven by 75-year-old John Sands was hit by a full-size pickup heading east as he attempted to turn left. Sands was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver, 48-year-old Kevin Lenzen of St. Cloud, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

(Breckenridge, MN) — A Fergus Falls woman is dead, and a Parkers Prairie man is seriously injured after a head-on crash near Breckenridge Monday. State Patrol responded to the scene on Highway 210 around 3 p.m. 83-year-old Gisela Tervola was pronounced dead at the scene. 30-year-old Dillon Church suffered life-threatening injuries and was brought to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. His current condition is unknown.

Governor Walz’s office says MnDOT is deploying ten staff members to operate heavy equipment and provide transportation support. They’re bringing trucks, trailers, nurse tanks, chainsaws, protective equipment, and communications equipment. The MnDOT crews will work in South Carolina through the end of October. More than two dozen Minnesota National Guard members have been deployed to the Carolinas and Florida to assist with the local hurricane response and recovery.”

(St. Paul, MN) — A St. Paul U.S. Postal Service worker has been charged with second-degree attempted murder after shooting his supervisor at work Sunday. Ramsey County says the shooting by 28-year-old Tewabe Getachew was not premeditated but was intentional. Police responded to the USPS branch around 3:30 p.m. on a 911 report of a shooting, finding a man with several gunshot wounds. The man was brought to Regions Hospital with critical injuries; his condition is now stable. Investigators saw Getachew had frequent arguments with the victim, some employees noting he had mental health issues. Police arrested Getachew around 5 p.m. that day during a traffic stop. A search warrant of his home found the .40 handgun used in the shooting.

(Fargo, ND) — A Fargo civil rights activist and her husband face felony theft charges related to state fraud. In 2022, the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (DPI) awarded $350,000 in grant money to Faith and Charles Dixon’s Faith4Hope Scholarship Fund, a non-profit that runs after-school programs. The North Dakota BCI started investigating the couple after the DPI reported noncompliance and conflicts of interest. Through warrants, investigators searched banking records for Faith4Hope, Diezel Double Barrel BBQ, a vendor run by Dixons’ father, and Faith and Charles’ joint account. They found that through 2022 and 2023, the couple defrauded the DPI out of $70,000. Faith faces five counts of theft, and Charles faces one count of theft.

(Lewiston, MN) — A Wisconsin man suffered life-threatening injuries after a rollover crash on I-90 in Winona County Monday. State Patrol responded to the Lewiston crash around 2 p.m., learning a minivan was heading east when the driver lost control and rolled into a ditch. The driver, 33-year-old Jamal Arnold of Holman, Wisconsin, was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with life-threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown. Arnold was not wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol was not a factor.
