>>Virginia Man Dies in Vehicle Rollover Crash 

(Pike, MN) — A Virginia man is dead after a rollover crash in St. Louis County this morning. Deputies responded to the crash around 7:30 a.m. The vehicle was heading south on Highway 21 when the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Anthony Hall, lost control, rolling his vehicle until it hit a tree in a ditch.

 

>>Former DFL Rep. Nolan Dead

(Minneapolis, MN) — Former DFL Representative Rick Nolan of Minnesota’s eighth district is dead. The Minnesota DFL stated that 80-year-old Nolan was a “champion for the Northland who fought fiercely to protect working people from corporate interests.” Nolan represented the sixth district from 1975-1981. He decided not to run again and became president of U.S. Export Corp. Nolan took office again for the eighth district from 2013-2019. No cause of death has been released.

 

>>Bloomington Man Sentenced to 12.5 Years in Prison for 2023 Murder of Teen

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Bloomington man has been sentenced to twelve and a half years in prison for the 2023 murder of a teenager. 20-year-old Antonio Brooks Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree unintentional murder on September 6th. Brooks fatally shot 15-year-old Ka’Maih Johnson near Lakes of the Isles in July 2023.

 

>>2 Men Seriously Injured in Renville Work Incident 

(Renville, MN) — Two men suffered serious injuries after falling from scaffolding inside a storage tank near Renville this morning. Deputies responded to the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative plant around 6:35 a.m. 22-year-old Chance Anderson of Adams and 30-year-old Tedrick Coleman of Baton Rouge, LA, fell 35-40 feet to the ground after coworkers attempted to reposition the scaffolding they were on. Both victims were flown to St. Cloud Hospital. Their current conditions are unknown.

 

>>St. Louis County Jail Inmate Escapes on Foot, Caught in Hibbing

(Hibbing, MN) — A St. Louis County Jail inmate in Hibbing has been arrested after escaping custody Thursday. Laron Brown was being seen at the Fairview Range Medical Center after reporting chest pains to jail staff. After being cleared to return to the jail, Brown escaped on foot from the deputy guarding him. He was taken into custody around 10:30 this morning after an extensive search of Hibbing. Brown was being held for felony domestic assault by strangulation on $100,000 bail. Additional charges for Escape from Custody are pending.

 

>>MN AG Ellison Warns Telecom Business to Cut Out Robocall Route-Ins

(St. Paul, MN) – Attorney General Keith Ellison is warning an advertising company suspected of transmitting illegal robocall traffic to stop immediately. Ellison is part of the anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force of 51 attorneys general that take legal action against those routing robocalls into the U.S. The group notes iDentidad Advertising Development LLC, a.k.a. iDentidad Telecom, received nearly 200 traceback notices for calls routed to the U.S., a large number of the calls being illegal or part of suspicious robocall campaigns.

 

>>Superior National Forest Fire Burns 8.5 Acres of Timber, Cause Unknown

(Duluth, MN) — A fire in the Laurentian District of the Superior National Forest burned nearly 8.5 acres of timber. This happened around 6 p.m. on Thursday southeast of Cook, near the Pfeifer Lake Campground. Wildfire crews spent the night working the fire and cleaning up around the edges. The fire is suspected to be human-caused, though it is currently unknown. The site was a future/proposed prescribed burn unit.
