(Duluth, MN) — Just in time for Veteran’s Day, St. Louis County encourages residents to shine a green light as a show of support for people who serve or have served in our nation’s military. People are being asked to shine a single green light bulb or a string of lights from November 4th through the 11th leading up to Veteran’s Day. Green is considered a color of hope, renewal, and well-being. St. Louis County is home to more than 13,000 veterans.

>>Mayor Frey’s Latest Plan Includes Steps To Revitalize Downtown Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN)  —  Mayor Jacob Frey is unveiling a plan to revitalize downtown Minneapolis.  The 18-page Downtown Action Plan includes finding a way to transform Nicollet Mall into a pedestrian-only corridor.  The plan includes the downtown Warehouse District, which the mayor says has the potential to be an entertainment mecca.  Meanwhile, the Downtown Council and Meet Minneapolis also are expected to release their visions for the city’s future.

>>Mankato DPS Offering $15K Reward To Solve Deadly 2023 Shooting

(Mankato, MN)  —  The Mankato Department of Public Safety is increasing a reward for information in hopes of solving a deadly shooting that happened last year.  Police began investigating a year ago when Buay Juk was found with gunshot wounds in the 200 block of Balcerzak Drive.  He died after being taken to the hospital.  The agency now offers a 15-thousand-dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

>>Duluth’s Brighton Beach Reopens

(Duluth, MN)  —  A recreation area in Duluth that’s been closed for several years for a re-model is now open.  The public was welcomed back to Brighton Beach at Kitchi Gammi Park yesterday.  The four-year project was influenced by severe storms that led planners to relocate some infrastructure.  The lake walk was extended, a new roadway was built, and more amenities were added.

>>Plea Deal Reached in Rochester Sexual Assault Case

(Rochester, MN) — A Rochester man who was arrested after a woman reported being sexually assaulted along a popular walking and biking trail last year has been convicted of a gross misdemeanor criminal offense.  48-year-old Ryan Anderson was arrested in July 2023 after Rochester police officers responded to the Douglas Trail Head in northwest Rochester after a woman called 911 and reported that a man had grabbed her between her legs as she was walking her dog.   Anderson entered an Alford plea to the gross misdemeanor charge in exchange for dismissing the felony offenses.  Anderson has an extensive history of criminal convictions dating back to 1995 that includes at least five felony convictions. Most of them involve harassment charges for incidents that occurred in Rice County.
