Minnesota soldiers and helicopters were deployed to North Carolina last week to assist with the Hurricane Helene response and recovery efforts. Hurricane Milton is expected to overwhelm the local emergency response teams in Florida.

(Superior, WI) — A man is dead, another in custody after a shooting in Superior, Wisconsin, Sunday. Police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residential area around 9:20 p.m., the caller describing a man familiar to them walking around their garage and shining a flashlight through the window. As officers arrived, multiple gunshots were heard. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds lying near the garage who died of his injuries. The suspect fled but was later found at an Iron River residence. The investigation is ongoing.

(Anoka, MN) — A Ramsey man is dead after crashing his motorcycle in Anoka Sunday. Police responded to the crash report around 12:20 p.m., learning a motorist heading west left the roadway and struck a pole. Despite lifesaving measures, cyclist 52-year-old Bradley Brockel was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information is being released.

(Oak Grove, MN) — An Albert Lea man is dead after a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash in Oak Grove Saturday. Anoka County deputies responded to the scene around 11:55 a.m., finding a woman driving an SUV east hit a stopped motorcycle from behind. Despite life-saving aid and air medical transport, the motorcyclist, 49-year-old Kelly Linder, was pronounced dead at the scene.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Central Minnesota man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for producing child pornography. 43-year-old Jeffrey Adkins of Pequot Lakes pleaded guilty in May to repeatedly engaging in sexual acts with a minor. Officials say Adkins also produced a five-minute video of the abuse.

(Falcon Heights, MN) — Ice Castles is moving to the Minnesota State Fairground this year after a long-standing relationship and placement in Maple Grove. The Utah-based company’s CEO, Kyle Standifird, says while they value their relationship with Maple Grove, construction challenges proved to be a dealbreaker this year. He notes the State Fair is well-known and has plenty of infrastructure to handle the tunnels, caverns, fountains, and slides made entirely from ice. Construction begins next month when around 20 ice artisans begin tedious, weeks-long work. The season typically opens in January.
