Police say the family of Raghav Shrestha is sharing with the community that his condition has worsened, and Raghav no longer has brain activity. Raghav wanted to be in law enforcement when he grew up, so officers pinned a badge on him and swore him in as an honorary Sartell police officer. He was riding down a hill in Sartell Sunday night when he crashed and was wearing a bike helmet.

(Monticello, MN) — A 28-year-old Monticello man is the victim of a deadly boat accident on Tuesday on the Mississippi River near the Xcel Energy plant. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office reports that a fishing boat capsized, leaving three men in the water. Deputies say 66-year-old Mark Tasche (TAH’-shee) and 18-year-old Tristan Tasche were located safely on shore, and 28-year-old Tyler Tasche was found unresponsive. Tyler was treated by paramedics at the scene but did not survive. The incident remains under investigation.

It’s been six weeks since the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, and Governor Tim Walz has yet to call a special legislative session. The governor reiterated today that the main sticking point with Republican lawmakers remains a vote on gun legislation. When asked whether he has a deadline to act, Walz suggested the delay may be strategic. “I don’t ever think it’s too late,” Walz said. “But I do think what you’re seeing is—I’ll give you this—the folks who don’t want to take this vote or have this discussion are becoming fairly successful because they’re dragging this out and hoping people will forget. But what you saw today with that clergy on the steps of the Capitol, with the parents, with where Minnesotans are at—this is not going away.” Earlier in the day, a delegation of 50 clergy members gathered at the Capitol to deliver a letter urging Walz to call a special session and ban assault weapons. The letter was signed by more than 700 faith leaders from across Minnesota.

(Northfield, MN) — A former special education teacher in Minnesota has pleaded guilty to a felony charge after admitting to sending sexually explicit images to male high school students. Katie Hanson entered a guilty plea to one count of transmitting electronic communications with sexual content to a minor. Under the terms of a plea agreement, Hanson will receive a stay of imposition, meaning the felony conviction could be reduced to a misdemeanor upon successful completion of her sentence and probation. Her sentence includes 30 days of electronic home monitoring, 200 hours of community service, and five years of probation. Hanson was employed at a middle school in Northfield at the time of the incidents and resigned from her position in December.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota Lynx forwards Napheesa Collier and Alanna Smith are both on the 2025 W-N-B-A All-Defensive First Team. They are the first Lynx teammates in history to be named to the first team in the same season. Smith was also honored as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year along with Aces forward A’Ja Wilson. Collier won the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2024.
