(Brooklyn Park, MN) — Brooklyn Park police are searching for an endangered, missing man. 38-year-old Spencer Kipeni Suapaia is described as Black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 220 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has miscellaneous tattoos on both arms.

 

>>Granite Falls Woman Killed in Yellow Medicine County Crash

(Yellow Medicine County, MN) — A Granite Falls woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Yellow Medicine County. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Troopers say a southbound car collided with a pickup at an intersection northeast of Canby. 45-year-old Amanda Baumann was killed in the crash. The four occupants of the pickup, ages 60, 83, 33, and 31, were brought to Dawson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

 

>>Duluth Man Charged in Business Burglary

(Duluth, MN) — A Duluth man faces multiple charges after a downtown business was burglarized on Sunday. On arrival around 1:20 a.m., officers found a shattered glass door and shell casings. The suspect, 36-year-old James Ferry, was later arrested with the business’s stolen items in his possession. Ferry faces charges including first-degree burglary, reckless discharge of a firearm, and felony possession of a firearm. The investigation is active and ongoing.

 

>>Rochester Man Charged for Driving 100mph Without Headlights On

(Rochester, MN) — A Rochester man faces felony fleeing and reckless driving charges after allegedly fleeing deputies at 100 miles per hour with his headlights off. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Thomas Irish sped through northwest Rochester late Friday night, going 100 in a 45-mile-per-hour zone. Deputies found Irish in his car on the side of the road and arrested him without incident. He was released without bail and is due back in court next month.

 

>>AG Ellison Settles with Hmong College Prep Academy for $220K

(St. Paul, MN) –Attorney General Keith Ellison has settled with the former superintendent of Hmong College Prep Academy (HCPA), who must pay $220,000 in restitution. Ellison says Christianna Hang lost over $4 million of the charter school’s assets in an illegal hedge fund investment in Woodstock Capital. Hang resigned in 2021 after the details of the failed deal became public. The funds will partially restore HCPA’s loss.

 

>>Xcel Energy Proposes Rate Hikes of Nearly 10%

(Undated) — Minnesotans are asked to weigh in on Xcel Energy’s latest proposal, electricity rate hikes of nearly 10% starting in 2025. The two-year rate plan could increase the average residential bill by about $9.89 next year, with another increase in 2026. Public hearings begin tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Stillwater, and comments are open through December 30th. Xcel says the hikes will support clean energy projects and system upgrades.

 

>>MnDOT Reminds Motorists, Farm Equipment Operators to Share the Road Safely 

(Undated) — It’s harvest season in Minnesota, and MnDOT is asking motorists and farm equipment operators to share the road safely. Spokeswoman Anne Meyer says motorists should slow down, watch for farm equipment and debris, and use caution. Meyer says farm equipment operators should be using lights as required, use slow-moving vehicle emblems, and check the weight of vehicles. Crash data shows there were 455 crashes involving farm equipment in Minnesota from 2022 to 2024, resulting in eight deaths and 180 injuries.

 

>>Ankle Injury Sidelines Vikings QB McCarthy for Sunday vs Bengals

(Eagan, MN) — Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy is not likely to play Sunday against the Bengals at U.S. Bank Stadium. Head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters today that McCarthy suffered a sprained ankle in last night’s 22-6 loss to the Falcons. O’Connell said McCarthy is not expected to be available for the Cincinnati game, and he anticipates veteran Carson Wentz will start. Former QB Gopher Max Brosmer will be the backup. McCarthy threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in his first career start at home.
