The visitation for eight-year-old Fletcher Merkel is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church. The funeral will follow on the same day at 4 p.m. Services for 10-year-old Harper Moyski have yet to be announced.

(Silver Lake, MN) — A woman died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on the eastern edge of Silver Lake. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 67-year-old Ardith Turvander of Winsted was eastbound on Highway Seven when her vehicle collided with a southbound pickup on County Road Two. Turvander, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The other driver, 28-year-old Sebastian Diede of Marshall, was wearing a seatbelt and brought to Hutchinson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

(Pelican Rapids, MN) — A 19-year-old man is facing a felony assault charge after allegedly stabbing another man behind Pelican Valley Senior Living. Luis Armando Ralios-Larios of Pelican Rapids was arrested late Sunday afternoon. Prosecutors say he and another man attacked the victim, stabbing him in the back and punching him before fleeing the scene. Police later found the victim and a witness at a nearby park. The victim had a stab wound in his back and a large contusion on his head. Both men told officers they were walking when two suspects jumped the victim and ran off. Ralios-Larios was located nearby, matching the description given by the victim. He was later identified by the witness and taken into custody. Ralios-Larios is now charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

(St. Cloud, MN) — Waite Park Police are thanking multiple witnesses for helping officers catch a 17-year-old suspect after a car chase. Officers in Waite Park tried to stop a vehicle near a detour area around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The driver fled, crashed into a vehicle near the area, and fled again. A perimeter was set up, and witnesses helped direct officers to the suspect. The teen driver was found with a BB gun on his person and arrested. He faces multiple felony charges. Two passengers, ages 18 and 19, were cited for misdemeanor fleeing police. All of the suspects were from St. Cloud.

(Wolverton, MN) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating a plane landing in Wilkin County on Tuesday. Deputies responded to a 911 report of a small airplane landing on a road southeast of Wolverton. The two people on board were uninjured. They were flying from San Jose, California, to Park Rapids.

(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Tim Walz has appointed Jacob Fischmann and Carrie Doom as judges in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. Fischmann will serve in Kanabec County, replacing Judge Krista Martin. Doom takes the bench in Isanti County, succeeding Judge Amy Brosnahan. Walz says Fischmann “brings strong trial experience and deep respect for the people behind each case,” and that Doom is a “dedicated attorney whose compassion and legal skill will serve Isanti County well.” The Tenth Judicial District includes eight counties: Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington, and Wright.
