(Willmar, MN) — An armed robbery report Thursday afternoon near Willmar led to a major drug bust and six arrests across two counties. Swift County deputies responded to a call in Kerkhoven, where three men allegedly robbed a home at gunpoint and threatened the residents. Investigators with the CEE-6 Drug and Gang Task Force tracked the suspects to a Willmar residence, where four people were arrested. Officers seized two pounds of meth, three-fourths of a pound of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, morphine pills, an AK-47, and a handgun believed to be used in the robbery. Two more suspects were arrested at a casino in Yellow Medicine County. Their vehicle contained two-and-a-half pounds of meth and five-and-a-half pounds of cocaine.

A spokesperson says retired Sergeant Don Grundhauser died Thursday following a valiant battle against colon cancer. His wife says Grundhauser was a “proud St. Paul Police Sergeant who served the city he was born and raised in.”

(Undated) — The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is honoring three Minnesota conservation officers for their recent lifesaving efforts. Officers Nick Baum of Park Rapids, Curtis Simonson of International Falls, and Corey Sura of Remer each responded to emergencies involving missing persons and ice rescues. On July 21st, Simonson found an elderly man stuck in mud after a night in the woods. On March 14th, Baum and Sura separately helped rescue people who had fallen through the ice. The DNR says the awards reflect the officers’ training, quick thinking, and dedication to public safety.
