Amber alert leads to missing child

October 23, 2015 By Tasha Redel

amberalert2amber alert

(Minneapolis, MN) — Three hours after an Amber Alert was issued Thursday night, 15-month old Khadijah Sheikh  was found safe and her mother taken into custody. Officials say 30-year-old Yusra(YOU-sruh) Abumayaleh apparently picked up her daughter from daycare. Authorities say staff at the daycare had not been notified that the mother had recently lost custody of her child. Typically an Amber Alert isn’t issued when it involves a family member but authorities say they had reason to believe both the child and the mother were in danger. They said the mother had recently been acting in an “irrational matter,” threatening to commit suicide or cause harm to other people. After the state issued the Amber Alert, they were receiving a tip every 15 to 20 seconds. Abumayaleh  was found driving on 35W in Minneapolis.
