Amid controversy, MN A-G Ellison calls Rep. Omar “fair-minded person who rejects bigotry of all kinds” (AUDIO)

March 7, 2019 By Scott Peterson

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she doesn’t think statements made by Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar were meant to be anti-Semitic. And Minnesota Attorney General, Keith Ellison whose Congressional seat Omar took over, says there is a lot of scrutiny on Omar and as a freshman in Congress “she has very little room to make mistakes, and again, some lessons aren’t learned on the first try, but I still think that she is a fair-minded person who rejects bigotry of all kinds.” Ellison says “it’s important for [Omar] to really dig into and listen to people who have really gone through the experiences that they’ve gone through, particularly people in the Jewish community who have experienced anti-Semitism.” Omar recently accused pro-Israel advocates of pushing “allegiance to a foreign country.” A U-S House resolution condemning hate speech will not mention Omar’s name. Here is more with Keith Ellison:
