Minnesota redshirt sophomore outside Alex Acevedo is out for the remainder of the 2025 season with a lower body injury, the program announced on Wednesday. She was injured during Sunday’s match at Northwestern.

“Beyond disappointed to have to share the news of Alex Acevedo’s season-ending injury today,” said head coach Keegan Cook. “We’re also inspired by her response to this moment, specifically her poise and determination. Alex’s growth and performance this fall were integral to our early season success and her long-term future is as bright as ever.”

A Nampa, Idaho native, Acevedo was having a breakout sophomore season, hitting .281 with 2.64 kills per set (second on Minnesota). The six-rotation outside hitter paced the ‘U’ with 0.36 aces per set and also added 1.26 digs and 0.31 blocks per set. Acevedo totaled 10+ kills in five matches, including a career-best 16 kills against South Dakota State on Sept. 14.
