The NBA named Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards as the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 16.

This is Edwards’ second career Player of the Week honor (Nov. 13, 2023), and he becomes the fifth player in franchise history to win the weekly award multiple times (Kevin Garnett, 15x; Karl-Anthony Towns, 7x; Al Jefferson, 2x and Kevin Love, 2x).
Edwards finished the week averaging 32.7 points per game on 47.4% shooting, including 38.2% from deep, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists in 34.7 minutes per game.

Following the 3-0 week by the Timberwolves, he leads the NBA in three-pointers made (270) and ranks fourth in scoring (27.4 ppg) and his 1,811 points this season rank second.

The 6-4 guard has helped the Timberwolves to a 40-29 record this season, including riding an eight-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the NBA after Sunday night’s 128-102 win over the Utah Jazz. The eight-game winning streak is the third-longest streak in team history and the team’s longest since winning nine consecutive games from March 27-April 14, 2004.

In the 115-95 win over the Denver Nuggets on March 12, Edwards began the week finishing with a team-high 29 points on 10-of-22 shooting, including 5-of-12 from deep, four rebounds and a team-high-tying six assists. The contest marked his 19th 25+ point/5+ assist game of the season (92nd career). The

Timberwolves have won five straight games against the Nuggets (including playoffs), the longest winning streak against Denver since the Boston Celtics won six in a row against the Nuggets from 2019-2022.

Edwards continued his strong play in the Wolves’ 118-111 win over the Orlando Magic on March 14, when he ended the night with a team-high 28 points on 9-of-19 shooting, four rebounds, a team-high-tying five assists and a block, marking his 38th 25+ point game of the season (178th career) and his 20th 25+ point/5+ assist game of the season (93rd career). The Wolves are 15-5 this season when he finishes a game with 25+ points and 5+ assists.

The Atlanta native wrapped up the week with a sensational performance in the Timberwolves’ win over the Jazz Sunday night when he erupted for a game-high 41 points on 16-of-27 shooting, including five makes from deep, two rebounds, two assists and one steal, marking his seventh 40+ point game of the season (17th career). Edwards’ seven 40+ point games this season are the most such games in a single season in franchise history. At the 2:33 mark of the first quarter,

Edwards knocked down his second of two free throws, giving him his 21st point of the night and the 8,711th point of his career (currently at 8,731 points), moving him past Andrew Wiggins for third on the Timberwolves all-time scoring list.
